This is the man who inspired me to create this page. He would tell me stories, and when he didn’t know some details, I would start searching the papers. We would talk for hours about the history of Burnett County. He remembered all of his students (although sometimes he would mix up sibling names); he remembered watching the train come though Danbury as a little boy; he remembered troubled individuals and explained that they were good kids with hard lives, and he would have me look them up to see if they turned their lives around. He would point out houses and tell me who the original owners were, and how he knew them and who their families were. He loved people, he loved this area, and he loved the stories that came out of it.

So if you knew him (or even if you don’t), have a sweet treat in his honor, and maybe tell a story or two. Keep memories alive.
