We tried 13 bits until landing on this one 🤦‍♀️

It was real easy to find that a D ring worked best for her, but thickness, shape, material… we went through them all.

She hated a single joint bit, so for too long I was testing different double joint bits. Until I found a bargain on a straight bar- which I’ve never been a fan of. She was!

We were getting close narrowing it down. My favorite was a Mullen Pelham, but she mentally shut down with the curb chain. And I want a willing partner who works with me, not for me.

We continued. She seemed to like a sweet iron Myler for a while but then I discovered it was too thin for her taste. So we went to a thick rubber bit which she liked for a while and was going great in it until she started to refuse the bit while tacking up. 🤔

It was fine under saddle but it got progressively worse on the crossties.. She’s the kind of horse that happily grabs the bit from you so this was a big deal.

We were getting so close. I knew she likes the Mullen, slightly thicker than normal. I grabbed a few more bits to try, and since it was only $15, I also grabbed a Happy Mouth Shapen Mullen (with the bubbles in the center of the bit). Just for the fun of it.

Turns out that was the one! I’m not a fan of plastic, but you gotta go with what works 🤷‍♀️ We’ve been happy in it ever since 🙏

The magic carpet 🤣 River is always up to shenanigans. At least this one is actually therapeutic!

Red Light and NIR lights are scientifically proven to increase circulation which heals wounds faster and recovery sore muscles.

XLR8 Equine is the our favorite prep and recovery tool!

Florida has been BRUTAL lately. 🥵☀️ Heat stress doesn’t just affect your horse’s workout, it affects digestion too.

A few simple feeding adjustments can make a big difference:
1. Replace electrolytes (feed alone doesn’t contain enough)
 2. Don’t feed grain to a horse that’s still hot, sweaty, and panting
 3. Avoid a large grain meal right before riding in extreme heat
4. Fix the digestive stress by feeding a grain that your horse confirms with no gut issue symptoms

reduces many common inflammatory issues: it’s made in a horse-only facility with fixed formulas, so every bag is consistent and there’s no risk of cross-contamination from ingredients used in feeds for other species.

Is there anything special you do for your horses in the hot summer months?
