West Bridgewater Football:
West Bridgewater 13 Falmouth 6
September 11, 2026. West Bridgewater defeated Falmouth 13-6. West Bridgewater’s Dylan Spadea accounted for all 13 Wildcats points as he scored on a 8-yard rushing touchdown, converted and extra point kick and was 2/2 on field goals connecting from 22 and 30 yards. Dylan Spadea was also an important factor on kickoffs limiting Falmouth to no return yards.

West Bridgewater quarterback Nick Navin accounted for over 100 yards in passing and rushing. Wide Receiver Kevin Kearton led with 5 receptions for 77 yards including a 28-yard highlight catch. Dylan Spadea and Jake Callahan combined for over 60 yards rushing.

Gage Turner led the defense with 7 total tackles including 2 for no gain and recovered a fumble at the 4-yard line with 35 seconds left in the game that helped to prevent Falmouth from scoring and possibly tying the game. Bryce Gagne also had a strong game on defense with 7 total tackles. Jack Neilan had 5 tackles including a sack. Calvin Pike had a strong game on the defensive line with 4 tackles plus a fumble recovery. Nicholas Karas had 4 tackles. Dylan Fernandes had 3 tackles and helped key the win by causing a fumble with 35 seconds left in the game. Jacob Betterncourt had a key interception. Lucas Brache recovered a fumble on special teams. Jonathan Chervil made an outstanding play deflecting a pass in the end zone to prevent a possible touchdown.

West Bridgewater 3 Norfolk Aggie 0
September 11, 2026. West Bridgewater defeated Norfolk Aggie in straight sets 3-0 for its first win of the 2026 season. West Bridgewater won the first set 25-3, second set 25-16 and third set 25-19.
West Bridgewater’s Amy Dangoia was simply sensational serving as she went an astounding 29/29 in the game with 13 total aces including 10 aces in the first set and finished the first set with 3 in a row and finished the second set with 3 in a row. At one point in the first set Amy Dangoia helped the Wildcats to earn 23 points in a row with her serving to take a 24-1 lead.

Ella Holden shined in two areas leading the Wildcats in her specialty with 11 assists and also was perfect serving going 13/13. RaeLynn Gifford went 12/16 on the attack with 6 kills and Jojo Garcia went 14/17 on the attack with 8 kills. Abby Kellogg had a monster game overall game up front at the net with 3 solo blocks and 2 assisted blocks, went 11/11 in attacks and had 7 kills.

Sara Martins and Julia Auger both made their first varsity kills. Sara Martins had 1 kill out of the middle and Julia Auger had 3 kills from the outside.

West Bridgewater plays next at home on September 14, 2026, against Seekonk.

West Bridgewater Girls Volleyball:
Somerset Berkley 3 West Bridgewater 0
September 10, 2026. Somerset Berkley defeated West Bridgewater 3-0. Somerset Berkley won the first set 25-17, second set 25-18 and third set 25-23.

In the second set the teams tied 7 times with the last being 14-14 until Somerset Berkley scored 11 of the last 15 points to win the set. West Bridgewater played its strongest in the third set as the teams tied 7 times with the last being 18-18 until Somerset Berkley was able to squeak out the set win 25-23.

West Bridgewater varsity volleyball dropped their first match of the 2026 season 0-3 against a strong Somerset Berkley team. Senior Jojo Garcia gave a strong performance. Jojo Garcia was 6/6 serving, 6 kills, 2 blocks and 5 digs. First time starters Kiki Morales and Emma Milton both had strong starts. Kiki Morales had 5 kills and 3 blocks. Emma Milton was a perfect 10/10 serving, 5 assists and 6 digs. Ella Holden and Raelyn Gifford had an outstanding game serving going 18/19 with a combined 6 aces. Keira Cogavin held down the defense with 18 digs followed by Amy Dangoia with 8 digs.

West Bridgewater 7 Seekonk 1
September 8, 2026. West Bridgewater opened the 2026 season firing on all cylinders as they won 7-1 against Seekonk. West Bridgewater’s Sarah Diedrichsen who netted close to 20 goals last season as conference All-Star started the season off hitting the net for a hat trick (3 goals). Haylee Krakowski who was one of the top goal scorers in the state last season with more than 20 goals started the season on target with 2 goals. Maeve Matta and Reese O’Keefe each scored a goal for the Wildcats. Standout goalie Allie Edgerly who defended the net allowing only a goal or less in 7 games last season started the 2026 season in strong form in the 7-1 Wildcats win.

West Bridgewater 2 Seekonk 0
September 8, 2026. West Bridgewater boys’ soccer team opened the 2026 season in stellar shutout form as they defeated Seekonk 2-0. Standout goalkeeper Ben Stapleton picked up where he left off last season when he had 11 games defending against the net allowing only 1 goal or less including 8 shoutouts with an outstanding game to open the 2026 season with a shutout. Drew Spadea led the offense as he netted a goal and added an assist. Nicco Robinson added the other goal for West Bridgewater in the win.

West Bridgewater High School Alumni Outstanding Athlete and Citizen Tribute: Denise Adams

DENISE ADAMS: Denise Adams a 1977 graduate of West Bridgewater High School, was born with talent, gifted with a hard work ethic and a fierce competitor as an individual athlete as well as a team supporter. The Adams family growing up in the 1970s and early 1980s were West Bridgewater's version of Eight is Enough but a much different and better version. All 8 siblings had a great smile, good looking, great personalities and all 8 of them played in some form of sport in the WBYAA growing up as a youth in basketball, baseball or softball. It was a common thread that at the Adams property practice as well as competitive softball or whiffle ball would take place in the backyard and in the front driveway basketball with a backboard and hoop hanging from the top of the garage. Some windows were broken and dents made on the side of the house during those years when a ball would hit them and luckily the father of the Adams family, William 'Bill' Adams, was an insurance adjuster as a profession and knew how to deal with it. There were many games played not only amongst the family but with friends or male neighbors who thought they could win against any Adams sister but time and time they were proven wrong as these sisters as well as brothers were both good and competitive winning the majority of the time. In addition to playing softball, whiffle ball and basketball the Adams family extended the sports playing and competition between themselves and with friends or neighbors playing volleyball, badminton, darts, jarts lawn darts, croquet, ping pong, nerf tag football, frisbee, hacky sack and in the winter a net would be set up for a form of hockey. Sports action was 12 months of the year non stop at the Adams home. The reward after a game would be watermelon, ice cream, pizza, candy, a run through the water sprinkler and lots of laughs. Denise always had a smile when playing as it was both fun and something she loved to do plus sometimes used as an edge factor in her competitive spirit. All 8 Adams family members played at least 1 year or more in either varsity or junior varsity sports in high school. Deborah 'Debbie' class of 1975 played tennis and was on the cheerleading team. Denise, class of 1977, played field hockey, basketball, softball and tennis. Patricia 'Pati’, class of 1978 played field hockey and basketball. Mary, class of 1979 played basketball. Paul, class of 1981 played basketball and baseball. Linda, class of 1982, played field hockey and basketball. Thomas 'Tommy', class of 1984, played basketball and baseball. Although Tommy did not possess the height his brothers had, he made up for it with his muscle, strength and speed as he was the fastest runner in the family and was an excellent point guard in basketball as a starter on varsity and baseball player. David, class of 1986, played football and baseball and was co-captain as well as Mayflower League All-Star in both sports and later played football at Bridgewater State and then in a Semi-Pro league for the Randolph Oilers where he was a starter on a championship team. Sports were in the blood and were highly supported by the leaders of the Adams family, who were father William 'Bill' and mother Barbara. Both parents did not miss a beat and somehow with 8 children did everything they could to watch them perform. Barbara was a nurse as a profession who after work would be seen watching her kids at the gym or ball field playing always with a smile cheering them on and probably led the town in supporting the WBYAA snack bar serving her kids with food or a treat. Barbara always with her nature of not only helping her family but others as a nurse would often carry bandages and gauze pads with her at games to patch up bumps, bruises and cuts not only her own kids would get but others as well. Every parent that met her or child or kid that met her instantly was drawn to her kindness and warm smile making her one of the most popular moms in the town to feel comfortable with and want to talk to. Bill, who worked as an insurance adjuster took the Greyhound bus from Hockomock Plaza in West Bridgewater back and forth to work in Boston, would often walk straight from the bus in his suit jacket, dress pants, tie and kept a change of shoes to walk or get a ride or drive to the gym or ball field to cheer on and support his children performing in a game. He was the best-dressed father at the games. If there is a golden ticket or reward, having 8 children, all who play sports and being there for them after work on free time on the weekends to support, encourage and cheer them on, is simply special then and now in life. In May 1981 Bill passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack at the age of 49. With one child about to graduate and 3 others still in school, Barbara became a sole parent and still did everything she could to support and continue to go and watch her remaining children still in school play sports. Denise was one in the family who used her leadership she developed from sports growing up and strong family values as an extra help, resource and support to her mother and all her family and still does to this day with dedication and care taking her mother Barbara now in her early 90's out or visiting as often as possible.

Denise Adams was an outstanding athlete while at West Bridgewater High School. Denise Adams played 4 years of Field Hockey playing the center position, a co-captain, a Mayflower League All-Star and was part of 3 Mayflower League Championship teams led by head coach Barbara Hanssen in 1973 and Nancy Dwyer in 1974 and 1975. The 1973 Field Hockey Team finished the regular season 7-1-2 which included 6 shutout wins and a 11-0 win against Avon. The 1974 Field Hockey finished the season undefeated in regular season play and the 1975 team also finished the regular season undefeated at 10-0-1 that included 4 wins by shutout and all other games only allowing 1 goal per game and were ranked number 1 in the division. They played in the state tournament and made it to the final 4 before losing to Weston and they ended the season 12-1-1. Denise Adams was a 4-year starter on the varsity basketball team as a guard who could score inside and deep from the outside and played an aggressive defense, she was a co-captain, a Mayflower League All-Star all 4 years (freshman, sophomore, junior and senior) and was part of Mayflower League Championship team in the 1974/1975 season led by head coach Nancy Dwyer. Denise Adams played for 4 years as a starter on the varsity softball team as a left-handed power hitter/infielder, a co-captain, 2-time Mayflower League All-Star and part of 2 Mayflower League Championship teams in 1973 and 1974 led by head coach Barbara Hanssen. In 1973 she swung between junior varsity and varsity and played enough time to earn a varsity letter as an eighth grader on the softball team. In 1973 she was part of a softball team that not only went undefeated in league play but was part of a potent offense back when the mercy rule was not in effect. West Bridgewater won 39-4 against Blue Hills and 37-11 against Blue Hills in another game. West Bridgewater won 38-4 against Southeastern and then defeated Southeastern 32-5 in another game. West Bridgewater won 28-12 against Sacred Heart. In 1974 Denise was part of West Bridgewater varsity softball school records that still exist today for most runs scored as a team and most runs scored combined with another team when West Bridgewater defeated Southeastern 54-2. The team were nicknamed the Jockettes for their talent and almost broke the combined runs scored record they previously set when they later defeated Blue Hills 36-15. In 1975 Denise was part of a team that lost to Sacred Heart in a wild 25-24 game and then West Bridgewater defeated Southeastern later in the season 32-0.

Denise elected to try a different sport in her senior spring season as she switched from softball to tennis where she earned a varsity letter in her first and only season in tennis.

On a special note, keeping the genes in the relative’s blood with sports Denise is the Grand Aunt via her sister Mary of current 2026 softball player, Liliana Morales who is on the West Bridgewater High School varsity softball team as a seventh grader. Liliana has started every game in 2026 and has already established a national record as well as a few school individual records strictly as a seventh grader on a varsity team.

Denise Adams played field hockey in college at Fitchburg State College and was an All-State All Conference Team player.
Denise Adams then started her career with the Massachusetts State Police Department and served as a Massachusetts State Police Officer for 35 years until she retired.

West Bridgewater High School Alumni Outstanding Athlete and Citizen Tribute: Scott Warmington

Scott Warmington, a 1983 graduate of West Bridgewater, was bigger than most athletes at West Bridgewater at the time boasting a solid stature at 6'2" 210 lbs. and basically maintained that same size all 4 years in high school. Growing up he was bigger than most of his classmates and when he played for the Major League Twins Baseball team in the WBYAA his size and strength were shown towering over others and hitting home runs on a consistent basis deep over the fence in the West Bridgewater Little League fields before he was a teenager. By the time high school started in his freshman year and since he was taller and heavier than almost the entire varsity football team, he was geared to be more of a lineman since there were not many at that time with that type of size. However, because of his athletic ability he was eventually given the duty as the football team’s running back. At that period there were not many schools in the league that had not only many players on their teams of that size but was the largest running back in the league. Scott used his size to advantage and if he had a good lead blocker or others in front of him, he was often a difficult running back to tackle for opposing teams and throughout his career was often in the top 10 in the Brockton area scoring leaders. Scott was nicknamed Duck for his walk and known as Bumpy. For many that knew him in high school he was often also known as the gentle giant who was always polite, kind, humble and looked out for others with care as well as support. In addition to sports at high school, he was part of the Drama Club where he was part of lead roles in the junior and senior class plays. Scott Warmington played for 4 years as a starter on the varsity football team, was a co-captain and Mayflower League All-Star. Scott played 4 years as a starter on the varsity basketball team, a co-captain and a Mayflower League All-Star. Scott played for 4 years as a starter on the varsity baseball team, a co-captain and a Mayflower League All-Star.

Scott Warmington's father Richard Warmington would attend games supporting his son as often as time permitted and was a well-known figure in the town as he served in honor as a West Bridgewater Police Officer for 42 years before he retired. Richard Warmington passed away in 2018 with a known strong dedication to his wife Joyce for 37 years, family and town that will always be treasured.

Scott Warmington went on to play football as a starter for 2 years on defense for Bridgewater State College.

Scott Warmington later earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Law Enforcement from Western New England College in 2001, and a Juris Doctorate from Southern New England School of Law in 2005. Scott Warmington is a member of the Massachusetts Bar as well as the Supreme Court of the United States. Scott Warmington is a graduate of the International Leadership Program, a program of Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. Scott Warmington is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police as well as the Association of Title IX Administrators.
Scott Warmington started his career as an adult as a police officer for the town of Barnstable, MA in 1985 for a few years before beginning his distinguished high-level career in the Massachusetts State Police Department. During his tenure Scott Warmington was the Lieutenant Colonel, Deputy Superintendent and Chief Operations Officer of the Massachusetts State Police Department and was a Massachusetts State Police officer for 32 years until his retirement in 2023. In 2019, Scott Warmington reached the highest level as he was promoted to Deputy Superintendent and Chief Operations Officer of the Massachusetts State Police and assumed command in the absence of or as directed by then Colonel Mason for the management of approximately 2,800 sworn and civilian personnel. Scott Warmington was responsible for overseeing the Department’s disciplinary process and represented the Department in contract and grievance negotiations. During his tenure as the Deputy Superintendent, Scott Warmington worked collaboratively with then-Colonel Christopher Mason to navigate the Department through a period of both internal reform and statewide police reform during a public health pandemic and periods of civil unrest.
Since retiring from the state police in 2023, Scott Warmington has been serving as an Assistant District Attorney with the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office. Throughout his tenure as a leader of the Massachusetts State Police, Scott Warmington was known for his decision-making, forward thinking, and leadership ability to solve critical issues. Scott Warmington is also widely recognized for his ability to collaborate in both the public and private sectors.

West Bridgewater Legendary Coach Bill Panos:
Legendary and Highly respected long-time cornerstone of West Bridgewater High School Football and West Bridgewater Youth Football Coach Bill Panos passed away at the age of 76 on July 27, 2026.

Bill Panos impact and passion on the West Bridgewater football community and town of West Bridgewater in general was nothing short of spectacular with endless memories made and historic feats achieved. Bill Panos guided West Bridgewater High School’s varsity football as its head coach for 33 years to 182 wins, 6 Super Bowl appearances, 2 Super Bowl wins (1991 and 2006) and 11 league championships and guided his team in his final season in 2018 to a record of 10-2 and a Division South Sectional Championship game win that included scoring touchdowns on 7 possessions in a row. No matter the size of team from a season low of 17 players to a high of 52 players he was true to his form in coaching an old school run heavy offense. Bill Panos was a Brockton Enterprise coach of the year, Boston Globe coach of the week and Referee Association Coach of the Year. Bill Panos was inducted into the Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2018. His work ethic, dedication, passion, principles and desire for players to be the best they can be on and off the football field was an inspiration as well as appreciated by many in life. May his West Bridgewater Wildcat spirit continue to live on to all that were part of his historic life.
