A huge subject across America is school safety. How do we protect the most precious people in our lives that being our children. That said, understanding and implementing comprehensive school safety policies and procedures is one of the most important facets of education. Problem is teachers are educators not public safety officers. Educators will diligently follow safety protocol, but they should not be expected to create school safety operational plans and or procedures. The best public safety administration comes from highly trained professionals who are "in the soup", who have spent each and every workday devoted to keeping students and staff as safe as possible. Bomb threats, Internet threats, lockdowns, FERPA implications, video and audio systems, reunification plans, and many other topics are all part of comprehensive school safety.
I have formed a group of highly trained experts in school safety. We are and were responsible for the safety, health, and welfare of 32,000 students and 5000 staff members in the Des Moines Public School District, the State of Iowa's largest public school district.
We are education's go-to professionals in all aspects of school safety here in Iowa. Leave the creation, implementation, and updating of your school district's public safety plans and procedures to the experts.
My name is David Murillo, and I am a retired Des Moines police Sergeant and recently retired Public Safety Specialist with the Des Moines Public School District.
