A timely study in contrasts.... In the Ben Franklin series over on Apple, Michael Douglas is showing us how he had to see both sides to negotiate an end of the American Revolution. Over on Max, "The Sympathizer" is about a spy whose central conflict is that "he's cursed to see both sides" of the Vietnam war.

Two new thrillers just arrived on streaming. Madrid-set "Red Queen" (Prime Video) based on the country's bestselling trilogy about a covert European police force. Jamie Dornan's Australian-set dark comedy thriller "The Tourist" returns for Season 2 (Netflix).
