We set up Newyonder 4 years ago to inspire people all around the world about how incredible our planet is, and how vital it is that we preserve it, by taking our community on a journey across the globe using the power of story and regenerative impact projects.

We saw an opportunity to do things differently in media. We wanted to be curated, to be conscious, to be niche, to focus on an audience and business that matters. We certified as a B Corp from day one. Our Newyonder Original productions are BAFTA Albert 3/3 star sustainable productions. We took our subscribers beyond the story and gave 5% of revenue back to the planet through regenerative impact projects, planting Seagrass seeds that provide a positive impact on the planet, wildlife and people. Our north star has always been to build "The Patagonia of Media".

To get there, we produced feature films that took us and viewers across the globe - from the story of three Haenyeo sisters who live a life that coexists with nature and the land, through to the powerful human and wildlife stories on our own doorstep here in the UK. The global recognition and accolades we received for our Newyonder Originals brought our debut features up against industry titans and heavyweights - Netflix, BBC and Amazon Prime. We went on to win the Director’s vision award in the US and the Heinz Sielmann award in the EU. We believe that film is a universal language and by telling human and global stories, we can inspire, inform and engage, wherever you are, wherever you're from.

We built a platform and community accessible to the world - a curated, conscious streaming service and catalogue of 500 films, and series with themes of adventure, conservation, sustainability, equality and wellbeing.

We didn't have it easy scaling Newyonder. We’ve navigated through COVID, inflation, economic downturn, industry turmoil and more. Despite all this we are having to share the unfortunate news that Newyonder's streaming services will be ending on 30th June 2024 as we have been unable to secure this round's venture capital funds that are required to continue scaling. Having laid all the groundwork, we are so close to reaching new heights in this niche market, yet sometimes we don't reach as high as we personally envisage as it takes far more than our own passion and determination to get there.

We may not have reached our vision today and, although this chapter comes to a close, we'd like to think that this is not the end of our story.

Thank you to everyone who believed in us - our subscribers, investors, family and friends, partners, Newyonder Original filmmakers, content providers, regenerative impact teams, grants, mentors, mentees, film festivals, industry champions, B Corporation and like-minded businesses.

TIDAL is streaming now on Newyonder - https://www.newyonder.earth/asset/tidal

The documentary follows Lisa Beasley’s journey after a horrific BASE jumping accident encourages her to return to the ocean. Lisa’s journey begins with a childhood love of water and sea life. This obsession continues until it is eclipsed by her growing infatuation with skydiving and then BASE jumping.

As her jump numbers increase, so too do the risks, until one jump changes everything. After opening her chute too early, Lisa has to endure the horror of being swung into the mountain face repeatedly on her long way down to the ground.

Lucky to have survived she must now face an immense recovery period that brings her closer to her mother as well as her first love: the sea. Lisa’s struggle to find an exercise she can handle leads her to discovering the beauty of the Cape Town ocean spaces. The tidal pools in particular have become very meaningful to Lisa’s recovery, and she must now work to protect them from the harmful historical cleaning protocols that kill the marine life she has come to love. As communities begin to form, education on the topic of marine protection increases and Lisa is able to protect those spaces, the film concludes.
