Joseph Clark Schwedler, known by his family and friends as Clark or often “Clarkie,” was killed near Fallujah, Iraq on April 6, 2007. Clark grew up in Crystal Falls, a small town in Michigan's rural Upper Peninsula. He was the oldest son of C. Joseph and Susan Schwedler and beloved brother of Tom and sister Kate. He is missed greatly by his parents, siblings, tight-knit extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins, and the many friends he made during his life in Crystal Falls, while at school at Michigan State University, and while serving in the Navy. Schwedler graduated from Forest Park High School in 1997. He then spent a year working and skiing in Telluride, Colorado before heading to college at Michigan State University. Inspired by the events of 9/11, Schwedler enlisted in the Navy in March 2002 and graduated from BUDS training with Class 246 in 2003. He was then assigned to SEAL Team Four in Virginia Beach and was deployed to Iraq twice where he participated in over 100 combat missions. Schwedler’s military honors include the Bronze Star Medal with "V" for Valor, the Purple Heart, and Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with "V" for Valor. Clark was a natural leader who always looked for opportunities to be kind, build community, and to help others do their best. His memory lives on in the hearts of all those who knew him.

There ain’t nothing I can’t do, no sky too high, no sea too rough, no muff too tough.
Learned a lot of leasons in my life, never shoot a large caliber man with a small caliber bullet.
I drive all kinda of trucks, two-bys, four-bys, six-bys, those big motherf**kers that bend and go tch tch when you step on the brakes.

The statue commemorates a unique piece of Medal of Honor history. It depicts Mike Thornton rescuing Tom Norris on a beach in Viet Nam. It is the only 3rd time that one Medal of Honor recipient was rescued by another! Receiving the Medal of Honor is an exceptional and rare honor that very few Americans have earned. Most Medals of Honor are posthumous, reflecting the near-impossible odds one has to surmount to earn the nation’s highest award for bravery under fire. Usually, living recipients of the Medal are so incapacitated from their wounds that they retire. Those who are still able-bodied, are pulled off operational duties and are given more administrative and public affairs tasks.
Medals of Honor are rare. But what is even rarer is to have one Medal of Honor recipient save the life of another. There have only been three instances of this happening in history, and one of them took place during a clandestine operation deep behind enemy lines in Vietnam.

On this National Medal of Honor Day we highlight the achievements of Navy SEAL Medal of Honor recipient Tom Norris. In this photo of Mr. Norris, he explains the details of the award to fellow SEALs ! Thomas Rolland Norris is a retired United States Navy SEAL and Distinguished Eagle Scout who received the Medal of Honor for his ground rescue with the assistance of Petty Officer Third Class Nguyen Van Kiet of two downed aircrew members in Quang Tri Province, Vietnam on April 10–13, 1972.

I have a question, in a lone survivor movie scene , during the 1st briefing when Marcus is an extra, we see a shot of a patch with Marc Lee's name on it. red wings took place in june of 2005 but Marc Lee wasn't killed till 2006, why the patch ?

#FrogmanFriday Every time somone voluntarily quits their helmet gets place in a line under the bell. Every time it happened I felt a boost of confidence and hope that I was still in the fight. In life we should root for those around us to succeed and do what we can to uplift and encourage them. Make no mistake about it, in life many have placed their helmet under the bell as they check out, medicate or choose mediocrity. Stay in the fight. 👊🏼 Get up, grab your helmet and get back to your team, your family, and your friends. They need your will, love, and encouragement.

#FrogmanFriday This swim took my swim buddy and I nearly 4 hours to complete. There was no heroes parade waiting for us as we made our way onto the beach to report into the instructor recording times. We weren’t sent to get a hot shower or some food to recharge our depleted energy reserves. We were sent to a beat down (painful exercises and calisthenics) while other members of our class finished up. 😂 Guess that is why we say “the only easy day is yesterday.”
