Happy Sports Sunday!
With the beloved and admired Gil Hodges at last being enshrined in baseball's Hall of Fame on July 24, the Los Angeles Dodgers retired his number 14 before their June 4 game against the New York Mets. Of course Hodges managed the Miracle Mets the year they won the World Series in 1969. An eight-time All-Star, who played 16 seasons with the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers, Hodges is second in franchise history with both 361 home runs and 1,254 RBIs. The baseball world was shocked on April 2, 1972 when Gil Hodges died suddenly of a heart attack two days before he was to turn 48. Hodges' son, Gil Jr., and daughter Irene, will participate in the ceremony honoring their father at Dodger Stadium. #sportsunday #gilhodges #baseball

We, at CMG Worldwide, would like to wish Harold "Pee Wee" Reese a very happy birthday!! The legendary baseball shortstop would be turning 104 years old today!

On a roster with so many future high profile Hall of Famers, team shortstop Harold Henry "Pee Wee" Reese was the beloved captain of the Brooklyn Dodgers during their glory years when they were what we now call "The Boys of Summer." With his competitive fire he was the heart and soul of that great team. Pee Wee was 5'9" but he got his nickname not from his height. It came from winning the National Pee Wee tournament -- marbles! -- as a boy growing up in Louisville, Kentucky. Despite being from the South, he was instrumental in the acceptance of Jackie Robinson as a teammate by their peers. Pee Wee's diminutive size did not impede his success as a clutch hitter. He was often a candidate for Most Valuable Player honors and finished in the top ten voting for this coveted award eight times between 1946 and 1956. The only baseball team Pee Wee Reese ever played for was the Dodgers, from 1940 through 1958. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1984.

Happy Film Friday! Jack Lemmon, a wonderful actor as everyone knows, turned down two prize roles that went instead to Paul Newman: THE HUSTLER (1961) and COOL HAND LUKE (1967). Lemmon lost the role in WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION (1957) that went to Tyrone Power. #FilmFriday #JackLemmon

Happy Woman Crush Wednesday!

Lines from Bette Davis movies, as only she could deliver them:
~ "Fasten your seat belts, it's going to be a bumpy night." - ALL ABOUT EVE
~ "Oh, Jerry, don't let's ask for the moon; we have the stars." - NOW VOYAGER
~ "I'd like to kiss yah, but I just washed my hair." - THE CABIN IN THE COTTON

Hard to believe, but Bette Davis, not in a movie, when reflecting about her amazing career, said this about herself, "If Hollywood didn't work out, I was all prepared to be the best secretary in the world."

She also confessed, "When I saw my first film test, I ran from the projection room screaming."
How she coped with her own feelings about not being glamorous: "Nobody knew what I looked like because I never looked the same way twice."

That's the one and only Bette Davis. Watch out.

Happy Sports Sunday!
This summer, baseball's All-Star game finally returns to Los Angeles. Back in 1959 the Los Angeles Dodgers' great side-armed flame thrower, Don Drysdale, won the first All-Star contest to be played in the state of California. He also won the very first World Series game ever played in California that same season. A career member of the Dodgers, "Big D" was born and raised in Los Angeles, but he was the last of all Brooklyn Dodgers to retire from the game. Concerning the franchise relocation from Brooklyn to Los Angeles after the 1957 season, Don Drysdale said, " If you had asked the players on the Dodgers to take a vote, it might have been 25-0 to stay in Brooklyn. I would have voted with the majority."
