Embracing my new body with less judgment and more kindness. Learning to be patient with myself.

Postpartum changes can feel like looking at a stranger in the mirror~especially when youโ€™re naturally hard on yourself. But what Iโ€™m learning, what Iโ€™m practicing, is loving my body for all that it has done and continues to do for me.

Iโ€™m breastfeeding and pumping, and to maintain my milk supply, I need to eat more calories. At first, that was a difficult shift because my instinct was to eat less and lose weight as fast as possible. But Iโ€™ve reframed it as a positive. There is so much unrealistic pressure on women to โ€œbounce back,โ€ and not only is it exhausting, but it also takes a toll on our mental and emotional well-being in ways we donโ€™t always realize.

So I am calling my power back. I am choosing gratitude over self-criticism.

Am I completely satisfied with where I am? No. But I refuse to berate myself for it. Instead, Iโ€™m speaking love and kindness into my body.

Iโ€™m down 33 pounds, and I still have goals Iโ€™m excited to work toward. But right now, at 7 weeks postpartum, I am proud. And I want you to feel the same way, mama.
