Rachmaninoff in Los Angeles: A Summer of Music and Meaning

What happens when you hear Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto live under the stars at the Hollywood Bowl? HLN contributor Mi Ran Choi says it feels like a personal rebirth while Marilyn Monroe said in The Seven Year Itch: "It shakes me. It quakes me. It makes me goose pimly all over"

In this beautifully written feature, Mi Ran explores Rachmaninoff in Los Angeles, his Beverly Hills home, his love for the Bowl and the way his music still ripples through pop culture, from iconic movies to Frank Sinatra ballads.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day. For us at Hollywoodland News, this is more than awareness, it’s personal. Su***de has touched our team directly, leaving holes that will never be filled. Our founder, Regina Luz Jordan () has written extensively about her sister's su***de in 2013 and this was one of the biggest reasons why Hollywoodland News exists.

We have made a commitment that we will always speak openly about mental health, grief and survival because when you do work like ours, it's important to acknowledge the emotional labor involved can feel incredible knowing that you've touched someone but also taxing on our spirits.

Silence helps no one. Stories save lives. That is why we've created a tag on our site where we’ve gathered our reflections, poems and articles that have been written in the last six months in one place, and we’ll keep adding to it because turning pain into pride, strength and power is how we thrive.

From fairy tales to real scandals, Drake Bell to Diddy, Corey Feldman to Amanda Bynes, the strings of exploitation are everywhere. Always let your conscience be your guide.
