On Friday December 26th, 2025 The Smithtown Fire Department was dispatched to a reported garage fire at 41 Stony Hill Path. Chief of Department Dan Dongvort was first to arrive and reported a fire in a trash can that had extended to the outside of the garage. The homeowner had extinguished the majority of the fire with a garden hose, however firefighters stretched an 1-3/4" line to extinguish the remainder of the fire. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

On Friday, December 26, 2025, the Brentwood Fire Department, Brentwood Legion Ambulance, and Suffolk County Police responded to a reported train-versus-car at the 5th Avenue crossing. Upon arrival, responders found a vehicle that had been struck by an eastbound train. The occupants were able to safely extricate themselves from the vehicle. Firefighters from Rescue 18 confirmed there were no additional occupants inside and secured a fuel spill. The scene was then turned over to the police department for further investigation. One person was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The West Islip Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house just after 10:30 this morning on West Islip Road. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with heavy fire conditions in a large private dwelling. Multiple hand lines were put into operation to extinguish the fire. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is unknown. A full photo album can be found on the site and a full video is live on YouTube.

Just after 12:30 AM, on Sunday November 30th, 2024 The Islip Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 65 Princeton Street. 3-4-50 arrived first and reported fire showing from the exposure-1 side on the first floor of a two-story private dwelling.

Firefighters stretched two hand lines to quickly extinguish the fire. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

At 11:37 this morning The East Farmingdale Fire Company responded to a reported building fire at 42 Central Ave. 1-5-31 was first on scene and transmitted a working fire, bringing in mutual aid from surrounding departments. Firefighters placed two lines into operation to extinguish the fire. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation. More photos can be found on the website.

At 8:34 am this morning Smithtown Fire Rescue Communications received a call for CO2 tanks leaking at Chipotle on Route 347 in Smithtown. Chief of Department Dongvort arrived and confirmed the leak with three patients. Firefighters were able to locate the leak, isolate it, and ventilate the building. Two people were evaluated by EMS and refused medical treatment. Units returned to service just before 10:00 am.

At 11:17 pm last night The Bay Shore Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance was dispatched to a vehicle versus pedestrian on 5th Ave near Dowsing Ave. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on arrival and the roadway was closed for investigation by SCPD. The driver remained at the scene and was not injured. No further details were available.

At 10:53 p.m., The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a vehicle fire on Simeon Woods Road, near Express Drive North. Second Assistant Chief Mendola arrived first and reported an active fire in the cab of a detached tractor trailer. Firefighters stretched one hand line to quickly extinguish the fire. The occupant was able to exit the vehicle without sustaining any injuries and the cause of the fire is believed to be electrical in nature.

On Sunday August 17th The Commack Fire Department Engine Company 3 held their annual car show fundraiser event. 90+ cars were in attendance.
