Doctor Foster – Betrayal, Obsession, and Revenge

Doctor Foster is a gripping British psychological thriller that first aired on BBC One in September 2015, created and written by Mike Bartlett. The series follows Dr. Gemma Foster (Suranne Jones), a respected GP whose perfect life begins to unravel when she suspects her husband Simon (Bertie Carvel) of having an affair.

As Gemma investigates, her search for the truth becomes an all-consuming obsession, leading her down a dangerous emotional spiral. Inspired by the ancient Greek myth of Medea, the drama explores themes of betrayal, revenge, and the devastating consequences of secrets.

A second series aired in 2017, but while both Jones and Bartlett have hinted there’s more story to tell, there are currently no concrete plans for a third season. A spin-off series, Life, later featured Anna Baker from Doctor Foster.

If you discovered your partner’s betrayal, would you walk away quietly — or burn everything down?

Prepare for a fresh take on a beloved detective duo! "Lynley," a brand-new mystery-crime drama based on Elizabeth George’s bestselling novels, is set to premiere on BritBox in the US and Canada on September 4, 2025. This reboot offers a contemporary reimagining of "The Inspector Lynley Mysteries," which captivated audiences 25 years ago. The series promises to blend aristocratic flair with gritty police work as it brings Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley and Sergeant Barbara Havers back to the screen.

In this new iteration, Leo Suter ("Sanditon") steps into the shoes of DI Thomas Lynley, portraying an aristocratic detective navigating the complexities of the modern police force. His formidable partner is DS Barbara Havers, played by Sofia Barclay ("Ted Lasso"), a sharp and rebellious working-class sergeant. The dynamic between the mismatched pair is a core element of the series, as their differing backgrounds and approaches form an unlikely yet highly effective team dedicated to solving complex cases across four compelling episodes.

The impressive cast also includes Daniel Mays ("Magpie Murders") as DCI Brian Nies, Niamh Walsh ("The English Game"), and Michael Workeye ("My Lady Jane"). The series was created by Steve Thompson ("Sherlock") and directed by Ed Bazalgette ("The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die"), ensuring a high-quality production with a keen eye for mystery and character. New episodes of "Lynley" will air weekly, concluding on September 25, 2025, offering viewers a fresh dose of intricate crime-solving and captivating character interactions.

Lazarus: Harlan Coben’s First Original TV Thriller Brings a Ghostly Twist

Harlan Coben, the master of twist-filled crime dramas, is back — but this time, he’s delivering something completely new with Lazarus. Unlike his previous Netflix hits, this Prime Video series is the first to be built entirely from an original idea, blending a chilling ghost story with a gripping murder mystery.

Described by executive producers Richard Fee and Nicola Shindler as a “propulsive mystery thriller,” Lazarus promises all the jaw-dropping turns Coben fans love — but with a more eerie, supernatural edge. Sam Claflin (The Count of Monte Cristo) stars as Laz, a forensic psychologist who returns to his family home after the death of his father, played by Bill Nighy. Once there, he finds himself drawn into a web of cold case murders while also confronting unsettling questions about his father’s passing.

Coben told Radio Times, “I could write this as a novel, but I’m seeing it as a TV series. It’s a little more of a ghost story, very visual.” With that in mind, expect haunting imagery, a tense atmosphere, and plenty of mind-bending reveals.

Lazarus will premiere on Prime Video this autumn, with the exact release date to be confirmed soon.

Do you think adding a ghostly element will make Lazarus even more suspenseful than Coben’s previous thrillers?
