Lock and Dam 17 in Wagoner County Oklahoma…

The Blues are Biting…

Cut bait and live perch are the go to bite getters …

Fish are being caught along the wall and on the west side of the Dam.

Fishing is tight and crowded with fishermen jockeying for the prime real estate near the Dam gates.

High Water at Lock and Dam #17 near Wagoner,Oklahoma .

Water is high and extremely dangerous at Lock #17 , as it is at all other waterways around Northeastern Oklahoma.

We spoke with an Engineer who just lowered the gates as the go back and forth to try and keep the over one foot of rain we’ve had the last several weeks from flooding all over Green Country .

I also spoke with several fishermen on the East side of #17 and they said they had caught about 17 Big Blue Catfish each, but had to throw ‘em back because of the 30inch rule .

The West side of #17 is still closed due to construction and clearing of trees at the parking area and that side is a hotbed for anglers with long rod and reel combos, jockeying for room on the bank where Legends are made… people I know have pulled some monster catfish out of Lock and Dam #17, one I saw personally tip the scale at over 90 pounds.

Quick Notes:

Any Blue Catfish over 30’’ must be returned to the water as per Oklahoma Wildlife Department guidelines.

Be sure to check for specific fish species regulations on the waterway you’re fishing and above all, be safe out there .

Always carry proof of your fishing license and any permits required for your particular body of water.
