CR 6 is open, but please avoid the area unless you live on CR 6. Firefighters are monitoring the fire, the fire is contained but smoke will be visible from highway 50 tomorrow and in the coming days as fuels inside the containment lines burn out and are extinguished. Cutty’s Resort will reevaluate tomorrow with Western Fremont Fire Protection District to coordinate a plan to reopen as soon as safely possible.

Today at 11:34am a wild land fire was reported across County Road 6 from Cutty’s Resort in Coaldale. Cutty’s Resort has been evacuated. Western Fremont Fire District responded to the fire and requested mutual aid from Howard Volunteer Fire Department, Fremont County Emergency Management, Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, DFPC Helitack Cañon City, United States Forest Service, and Fremont County Sheriffs Office. Additional Mutual Aid was requested from Salida and South Arkansas Fire, Deer Mountian Fire Protection District, and Tallahassees Fire Protection District. Heavy equipment is also being used to create fire line. Air operations have been grounded with a heavy thunderstorm in the area at this time. Crews were pulled off the fire for safety with the lightning and storm conditions. The fire will be engaged again when it is safe for firefighters.
*CR 6 is closed at Highway 50.*
Please watch for water tenders coming from CR 6 onto Highway 50 for water shuttle operations.
