In a thrilling night of high school football on September 5, the Westerly Bulldogs faced off against the Scituate Sailors in Massachusetts, but unfortunately fell short with a final score of 33-29. This matchup was part of the Injury Fund Weekend, where games played outside of Rhode Island contribute to the teams' RPI standings. Had the Bulldogs secured a victory, they would have gained 16 Super Division points, a significant boost to their season. It’s not all bad Bulldogs will get OWP points on the back end . Pilgrim picked up the win over Seekonk 21-0

LaSalle Academy took center stage on Thursday night, clinching a vital win that now places them at the top of the division standings. Their strong performance has set the tone for the early part of the season, as they look to maintain their lead amidst a competitive field.

As teams gear up for the remainder of the season, the stakes remain high. Games played within Rhode Island during the Injury Fund Weekend do not count towards the RPI, but they provide crucial opportunities for teams to compete and raise funds for injuries sustained during the season.

Bishop Hendricken and North Kingstown will play today and will close out Injury Fund weekend .

Kicking off the action, we have Chariho facing off against EWGP (Co-Op) at 4 p.m. Both teams are looking to get their seasons rolling, and the anticipation is palpable as fans gather to cheer on their squads.

At 5:30 p.m., the spotlight shines on a couple of intriguing matchups. Division 2 Super Bowl champion South Kingstown, currently ranked #10, takes on Division 4 Narragansett, while NSHS faces Division 3 Super Bowl Champions #20 Ponaganset. 2025-2026 Football Season Kicks Off with Exciting Schedule

As the summer sun began-to fade, anticipation of teams preparing for the upcoming 2025-2026 Rhode Island football season. Teams are gearing up for an action-packed year, starting with the first day of practice that started back on August 14. Coaches and players alike were eager to hit the field and prepare for what promised to be a thrilling season.

Preseason activities begun shortly after, with multi-team practices were scheduled for August 22 and 23. These practices were crucial for teams to build chemistry and fine-tune their strategies before the first scrimmage that was held August 26. This early preparation was essential, as teams aim to establish their strengths and weaknesses ahead of the regular season.

One of the highlights of the preseason is the Injury Fund Weekend, taking place, Thursday and Friday September 4th and 5th 2025 It serves as a vital reminder of the importance of player safety and the support systems in place to ensure athletes can perform at their best.

As the regular season begins , teams will need to secure at least seven league games to qualify for the postseason. The excitement kicks off with Weekend #1 on September 12, followed by a series of competitive matchups every Friday, including Weekend #2 on September 19, Weekend #3 on September 26, and continuing through to Weekend #8 on October 31 2025 Will end the regular season

With the stakes higher than ever and teams eager to prove themselves, fans can expect thrilling plays, intense rivalries, and unforgettable moments as the 2025-2026 football season unfolds. Stay tuned for updates and highlights as the journey to the postseason begins!
