As parents, it’s hard enough to manage our own emotions, let alone help our kids process theirs. 🫠

In this episode of The Teach Your Children Well Podcast, host Sarah Cowan Johnson welcomes Dr. Kevin Chapman, a licensed clinical psychologist and a leading expert in anxiety and emotional health.

They explore how anxiety shows up in families, why labels can hurt more than they can help, and what it means to parent with emotional awareness and spiritual authority.

With the constant stream of devastating news and crises in our world, it can be difficult to know how to respond—especially around our kids.

Sometimes it can help to go back to the basics: talking and learning

We can model engagement to our kids by simply asking questions, reflecting on the character of God, and continually educating ourselves.

As you engage with your child, here are some additional resources that can help you learn together:

Our president, Terumi Echols, with authors Terence and Zion Lester at the ribbon cutting for Zion’s Closet! ✂️📘

Inspired by their IVP Kids book, ‘Zion Learns to See,’ the father-daughter writing team are turning their written words into action with Zion’s Closet, a resource to benefit students whose families are experiencing homelessness or in transient housing.

The initiative provides access to essential items for students from kindergarten to high school, easing the financial burden on families and helping students focus on their education.

Lester shared, “Zion Learns to See represents more than just another book project; it’s a deeply felt journey of embedding crucial life lessons in our children, with the hope that such empathy is shared with other children, too.”
