We won’t let this weather ruin our weekend fun! BUT! Make sure you check ahead before going to an event- sometimes locations will change or start times delayed, rather than cancellation. These event organizers put so much time and energy to make these fun things happen for our kids, so even when the weather is questionable, we always try our best to support them and show up (as long as it’s safe to do so!) bonus- sometimes it’s less crowded and makes for a better experience 😉

Public Works Crews Clearing Storm Damage; Be Prepared for Additional Severe Weather

Following strong storms that Wheaton experienced Wednesday afternoon and evening, Wheaton Public Works crews have been cleaning up storm damage, prioritizing clearing downed trees and limbs from streets to ensure they are passable for vehicles. This work may take multiple days, and there is potential for additional storm damage with weather forecasts predicting additional severe storms today.

Please note that City crews will be collecting storm debris from City-owned parkway trees only. To report damage to parkway trees, please use the City's online service request form at www.wheaton.il.us/ServiceRequest and select "Parkway Tree Storm Damage."

Property owners with tree damage on private property should contact a landscaper or use the weekly curbside yard waste program through LRS to dispose of limbs/branches.

The US National Weather Service Chicago Illinois is reporting a significant thunderstorm risk for Thursday, June 11 with the potential for damaging winds up to 80 miles per hour, large hail, and potential for a tornado. Please ensure that you have multiple ways to receive weather and emergency alerts and be prepared to take action in response to severe weather.

Confession: we cheat on our summer bucket lists 🙈 Let me explain...

Today is our first official day of summer since my kids' last day of school was yesterday. So today we make our summer bucket list. ✔️ But we've already gotten a head start over the last couple weeks (free outdoor concert, explore a new park, kane county cougars game... just to name a few). We just add them to the list first so we can immediately cross them off. It's like putting "make a to-do list" as the first item on your to-do list.

Do you do this too? Or are you a summer bucket list purist?
