For the month of July, I’ll be presenting the second masterclass in this educational series, focusing on one of the most important aspects of drumming development: strengthening your weaker side.

Drawing from The Weaker Side, the book I co-authored with the late Dom Famularo, I will share proven exercises, concepts, and additional original material designed to help you develop greater balance, control, coordination, and musical freedom on the drumset.

Over the years, I’ve received many questions about my books, and these masterclasses provide the perfect opportunity to explore them in greater depth. I’ll explain how the concepts were created, how to practice them effectively, and most importantly, how to apply them musically in real playing situations.

Since many of my books were co-written with Dom Famularo, I’ll also share stories, insights, and the philosophy behind the material, giving you a deeper understanding of the methods and their practical applications.

For the months of June, July, and August, I’ll be offering a series of online masterclasses based on my books. For me, a book is like a tool, similar to going to the gym. A machine alone won’t improve your strength unless you know how to use it properly, with the right technique and a clear training approach. The same applies to drumming.

I often receive questions about my books, and I felt this would be the perfect opportunity to go deeper: to show you how they were created, how to use them effectively, and how to integrate the concepts into your playing.
Most of my books were co-written with Dom Famularo, and I’ll also be sharing the stories, context, and key insights behind each one. We’ll explore practical ways to practice the material and apply it directly to music and real playing situations.

We are thrilled that Vater Drumsticks has re-introduced Dom's Pad Stick to their catalog, and making them available worldwide! Dom modeled the design of his Pad Stick after a vintage stick model he used while studying with the legendary Joe Morello decades ago. Constructed from Sugar Maple with a 0.675" grip size and 16 3/8" length, it has a drastic taper and finishes with a large ball-shaped tip that produces an articulate sound on a pad. The combination of grip size, length, taper, and tip shape makes Dom’s Pad Stick very responsive.

Over the years, Dom’s Pad Stick has been a very helpful tool for his students around the world, and of all skill levels, while working on hand and grip technique, rudiments, stick strokes, and warm-up exercises. Dom not only used the Pad Stick for his renowned teaching practices, but also to strengthen and stretch his own hands while keeping his chops up.

Ask for Dom's Pad Stick at your local store! Since the Pad Stick will be easily available through all online and physical dealers, we will no longer offer them on the Wizdom Media website.
