Every time Amadine attended a church service, her voodooist husband, Bernard, locked her out of the house. This punishment continued even after they had children. When Amadine took the children to church, Bernard made them all sleep outside and go without food. Then, one day in 2023, Bernard beat Amadine so severely that neighbors who had never before attempted to stop his mistreatment took action to physically restrain him. Soon, however, Amadine received some surprising news. Bernard had come to faith in Christ, and she could see that it was real. From that time, when the church was open for prayer or worship, Bernard was there. Amadine and the children returned home to live with Bernard, but their time together as a Christian family was short. About two months after Bernard came to faith in Christ, he was poisoned and died. Amadine believes it was her husband’s former voodooist friends who killed him. Pray for Amadine and other Christians in Benin as they follow Christ in the face of fierce opposition from voodooists.
