Home blends for g-tube kiddo.

This is something we really wanted to try for Calum but with his volume issues, we're taking it very slow. Specifically, we've replaced one of his five meals with home blends every day. This allows his body to adjust, my workload to adjust and his feeding schedule to slowly be updated.

So far it's been highly successful. I feel like Calum's more interested in food. He smiles so big when I pull out a syringe of food...and I feel like the different nutrients are providing him with a cognitive boost and he's having an easier time following my directions and I also oddly feel like there's been a decrease in boredom and zoning out.... though I don't truly know if that's the food...it just seems concurrent.

Now don't get me wrong, I know and fully believe that Calum required formula to live. We could have never done this a few years ago....heck we probably wouldn't have been able to do this a year ago. We just had too much volume intolerance. But I do believe that my home made bone broth and many of the things I diligently add to his meals are beneficial for him too.

It's the last day of school!

I can't believe how much Calum's grown physically, mentally, and with his social-emotional skills.

I am so proud of him.

Today I decided working with Calum on the transition from laying on his back to sitting was the movement I was going to challenge him with for his physical therapy session.
Then I was going to trust my ability to catch him and his ability to understand that he was in control of his sit and I was watching but not holding him up.

I am really proud of him.

Calum was able to sit for several minutes without falling over and with little help from me by the end of our session.
In this video I can see he's thinking through everything I am asking of him and taking it all in. The best part....I can tell he's proud of himself too!
