US Voice Actors – Male And Female

May I please share with you a POSITIVE comment about a Pay To Play VO Site I have investigated. We have EACH suffered with PTP sites, yet this one has shown ME a different perspective on the value of VO Artists and it is extremely refreshing!

I hope you will take a few minutes to contact Nate Kent at this email address – [email protected] and ask him about the Company's attitude toward us. I felt he was offering a great opportunity for North American talent (they are boosting their commitment to provide American English speakers for their clients).

I would love to hear if you come away with the same, positive feeling about Piehole as I have! http://www.piehole.ie/

Here's A Thought About...Advertising, Part 3

Continuing our search for ways to “boost your business, service, ministry, brand or store front ON A BUDGET”! Method #1 is the phone...Method #2 is your website. Don't have a website? Not to worry...there is a wealth of help out there to get you up and running!

No, you do NOT have to be a graphic artist or creative genius to design your website. I am a Voice Over guy and I did it! A couple of places to start (out of a dozen or more): “Go Daddy” (www.GoDaddy.com) (former sponsor of NASCAR racer Danica Patrick) and “WIX” (www.WIX.com) the group that is so VERY helpful with MY site.

As I said, I'm a Voice Over guy and rely heavily on the expertise of the WIX team for ideas and support. A couple of things I discovered on my website journey: you will need a “Domain Name” and WIX as well as GoDaddy can help you with yours. Keep it as simple as possible while using your brand name in the domain if you can. My domain name is a bit complicated – www.StuNorfleetVoiceovers.com - yet it leaves little doubt as to what the site is all about. Try to stick with dot COM as the suffix for your site (as opposed to dot NET, dot INFO or something else). Easier for your customers/clients to remember, plus they will probably enter dot COM anyway and never make it to your site.

As an additional way to “promote” my site, WIX helped me create my email address that includes the site: [email protected] Promote, brand, advertise yourself/company anytime and anywhere you can!

Is a website expensive? You certainly can spend thousands of dollars on creating one if you want to. However, GoDaddy and WIX have website builders that will walk you through every step plus a support staff that will happily answer any questions. I have yet to spend $100 on my site. Get your site up and then use it to promote anything and everything about your business or service! Put a map on the site to direct people to you...your hours, your phone number (with the answering machine message that ALSO promotes you) pictures of your products – you see where this is going?

HINT: You might very well have an employee, friend, neighbor or even a family member who can help you with the design of your website if you need it. A wonderful boost for them and probably a more creative website for you! Go for it!!

Blessings,
Stu

John's VocaliD voice.

Giving Back

May I introduce “VocaliD” which is a PERFECT opportunity for those of us who make our living with our voices to be the voice for those with limited speech capabilities.

If you are like me, you detest downtime...when there is nothing in the queue because you have voiced everything and you have caught up with your billing, marketing and grocery shopping! VocaliD is a “come as you are, whenever you can, do it from your home studio” project that WILL make a difference!

Canada native and VocaliD Founder Rupal Patel, PhD, is a speech scientist and technologist with over 15 years of clinical and research experience in assistive technology. She is a tenured Professor at Northeastern University in the College of Computer and Information Science and the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. She also – obviously - has a heart for helping others through the use of assistive communication technology.

How does the Voice Over Community fit in? By doing what we get paid to do...running our mouths! When you have an extra five minutes, hit the website, record some provided, scripted sentences (no copywriting or ad-libbing required) and assist in the MIRACLE of helping give a voice to someone who needs one! This video will help explain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji9cKNPgl-A Here is the website: https://www.vocalid.co/

Please join me in helping to make a difference in the lives of people you will probably never meet. It won't hurt a bit!

Blessings,

Okay...ways to boost your business, service, ministry, brand or store front ON A BUDGET! Method #1: your phone. Do you have an answering machine attached to your business line (or the number where you accept business calls)? It's okay if that number rings a cell phone that has a voice mail message if you don't pick up. Here is a GREAT place to advertise – but KEEP THE AD SHORT, under 30 seconds for certain – under 20 seconds is better.

Take the opportunity to let your caller know about: new business hours, a new service offering, a new product, an open house, a contest - whatever is important to THEM (not to YOU!!). Be concise...

Here's A Thought About...Advertising
Stu Norfleet

Welcome back! Let's start this new year thinking about ways to boost your business, your service, your Ministry, your brand, your store front through advertising. Yes – it is an expensive, eleven letter word and EVERYONE is looking for ways to attain a greater or at least a decent return on their investment (ROI). We are going to think about this in the next three posts.

Quick history...I been in the advertising business for over twenty years, writing and producing Radio and Television programs and commercials, yet I am not trying to bite the hand that has fed me. I will tell you, however, the ad industry of today looks NOTHING like it did even five years ago. Here's why: newspapers are working vigorously in the face of competition from “INSTANT” news providers. The papers are still the best source for in-depth details on news, events, commentaries and opinions. Newspapers are still one of the few places for a “double truck” ad!

Radio: when I was in the radio business, our commercial breaks (or pods or stacks – non-music elements) were normally two minutes long. Now, the average break is much longer. If your message isn't first in the break and attention grabbing, who will still be listening?
Television: shares the long-break issue that Radio has. Plus, many commercials today are produced with so many visual elements in 29.5 seconds that it is almost mind numbing with many of the images on the screen for less than two seconds...hard to watch for many folks! Additionally, back “in the day” we were very careful about “product separation” meaning two car dealer ads were almost never in the same break – much less played “back-to-back.”

Okay...enough of the downside of advertising! In the next issue, I will share some thoughts about what we can do – even some ways to reach out to our potential buyers that are FREE. “But wait: call right now and we'll double your order...just pay separate shipping and handling....” Oh my!

Be Blessed!

My work...how Blessed am I!

This is the time of year when colds or other issues that effect our breathing apparatus (nose and throat) begin to interfere with our Voice Over work. Not only are these medical problems uncomfortable, they can also begin to cost us money!

A very POSITIVE solution that I have found and used with great success is the Neti Pot. According to Wikipedia, “Neti is an important part of Hindu Shatkarma (sometimes known as Shatkriya), the yogic system of body cleansing techniques that is an integral part of Hinduism.” No matter its source, for me - the Neti procedure works quickly, very efficiently and painlessly!

Two hints from my experience that you might consider: use distilled or spring water at room temperature (or slightly warm – but NOT hot and NOT refrigerated or cold) You might try using with a saline solution added to the water which seems to add to the effectiveness of the cleansing process. (There are pre-made packets for use with your Neti pot such as “NeilMed” or “SinuCleanse” and you can even make your own saline - ½ to 1 teaspoon of salt to each 16 ounces (two cups) of warm water is recommended).

I must say that the thoughts of the process are worse that actually using the pot. Give it a try...Neti Pots and most times the saline packets are found at your neighborhood pharmacy. At my house, we use a plastic one and rinse it thoroughly after each use. I would love to hear how it works for you!
