Update on Firefighter Caleb Halvorson (9/8):

The Fort Worth Fire Department would like to thank you for the unbelievable outpouring of love, support and prayers for the Halvorson family. With their permission, they have allowed us to post an update on Caleb’s condition.

First and foremost: there have been numerous rumors circulating social media as the reach of this incident has gained national attention. And with such attention comes a lot of false information. Country singer Morgan Wallen HAS NOT contacted the family or visited Firefighter Halvorson in the hospital. He also has NOT gifted him with $250,000. Attempts have been made to shut this rumor down but we’ve been unsuccessful. Although sustaining multiple injuries and serious burns, Firefighter Halvorson maintains good vitals which has lead to his move from ICU to a step-down room in the burn unit of Parkland.

He is facing three back to back surgeries on his knee. Those surgeries must be completed prior to any repairs being made to his shoulders. And no surgery can take place until the third degree burns have healed on his leg.

Although his pain is manageable through medication, the skin grafts and physical therapy (while necessary) cause him a lot of pain. This pain takes both a physical and mental toll on not only Firefighter Halvorson but his family as well.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for every message of comfort and support and your selfless giving through the donation site. They are also happy to announce that their little boy in the NICU is getting stronger every day.

Thank you for continuing to hold this family in your thoughts and prayers. We know the road ahead for Firefighter Halvorson is very long but he is fighting hard. They are humbled by your outpouring of encouragement.
