I think every florist has heard a bride say, “but I don’t like roses” in the planning process.

Me: turns on slide show, taps mic, clears throat.

But seriously now, you may not like grocery store roses, buds that are not fully open yet.

A typical arrangement is meant to last several days in your home, so the roses are in their very first stages of blooming.

But a wedding florist uses roses that are farther along, as big and open and ruffly as they can be.

And it’s my personal mission to make you realize you do like roses! I’m batting 1,000 so far 😉🤩🙌🏼

I recently heard a podcast describing the Hebrew word “perfect”.

In English we use the term to mean “without flaw” but the Hebrew word describes something that functions as it was designed to function.

They used an example of an olive tree - no matter what it looks like, if the tree is producing olives as it was designed to do, it is perfect.

When we are walking in our design, doing what we were made to do; when something we create - whether a meal, a home, a piece of art, a child - when that thing is functioning as it was intended, it is perfect.

I love the freedom in that. I may have a great many flaws, but when I walk in what I was designed to walk in I am whole, I am perfect.

You may have errors in your life, in your parenting, your marriage, your work but those errors can’t derail your design. And don’t detract from your worth.

Perfectionism becomes a moot point. Perfectionism has no hold on you when you stay true to your purpose.

happy winds-day 🌬 In a new rhythm this year of mindful weeks off. Having brunch with a friend today, I helped with a class party at school yesterday, had a hometown day, got my nails done with a new friend, reading my Bible every day again, played memory with my kids, making homemade meals, I could go on. I’m so thankful for a bit of balance this year, even if it means saying some painful no’s to really great opportunities. My body and my mind are resetting to a better tempo 🤍 I look forward to every wedding and I look forward to my breaks. I’m just so thankful.

🧨Truth Bomb Tuesday coming atcha 🧨

In business, in friendships, in relationships, in all of life :: If you are your authentic self, you have no competition.

Here are my baseline definitions of success. When I follow these, I am walking in what is right for my life.

🌈 I am not cutthroat. I do this for the love, for the sake of putting beauty into the world. I give several weddings to my competitors bc I recognize when someone is a better fit or I am limited on time/resources. I walk in abundance and giving away business will not hurt me.

🌈 I reserve my artistic right to create a new piece and not copy another artist’s work.

🌈 I guard my time. My precious time is so valuable. If I’m not present in my family’s life, they simply will not have a present wife/mom. That’s a loss I won’t allow.

🌈 I create beautiful floral pieces for you and we will have fun doing it! If we’re not all having fun and if you’re not enjoying your wedding process/day, what are we even doing it for. We goin’ have fun!

That’s my authentic self laid bare for you. Now you know. I’ve had to make some changes to ensure these baselines are always present. And it’s made everything run more smoothly and successfully 🥳

Know who you are and what you bring. And know how it’s different. We won’t have the same goals and why should we!?

It takes time to learn and it takes courage to stand on it. But my, what it feels like to walk in it 🙌🏼
