The BookTok girlies keep throwing book recommendations at me like I’m not already drowning in my TBR 😭😂📚

I’m trying, okay?!

OH BOY, I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS.

Apparently all it takes to reach this level of excitement in adulthood is picking up three boxes of IKEA bookcases.

But when those boxes are the Billy shelves for your new home library?!

COMPLETELY JUSTIFIED.

This room has been planned, measured, cleared out, rearranged, and imagined about a hundred different ways... and finally we got to the part where it started becoming a LIBRARY.

Next stop that happened: assembly.

📚 BOOK REVIEW | ENIGMA BY RUNYX
⭐⭐⭐⭐ A GREAT 4-STAR READ

⚠️ MAJOR SPOILER WARNING ⚠️
This review and the carousel discuss major plot points AND the ending.

Dark academia. Dark romance. Secret societies. Murder mystery.

Enigma basically walked into the room carrying a checklist of things I like and said, “Here.” 😂🖤

One of my favorite things about this book was the balance.

The dark academia wasn’t just an aesthetic slapped onto a romance. The mystery actually mattered. The romance was a major part of the story without completely consuming everything else. And the thriller elements kept me wanting answers.

None of the three overpowered the others.

I especially loved Salem.

She refuses to believe her sister took her own life, and her determination to uncover what really happened drives so much of the story. But Salem’s journey becomes about more than solving her sister’s death.

She finds genuine friendships. She becomes more confident. She grows into herself.

And then she has Caz standing beside her being completely normal and reasonable about his feelings.

Just kidding.

The man is UNHINGED about her. 😂🔥

Salem and Caz are polar opposites who somehow fit ridiculously well together. Their chemistry was off the charts, but I appreciated that their relationship had substance underneath all the sexual tension and explicit scenes.

Caz is possessive in the most unapologetic way imaginable.

He basically spends the entire book radiating: SHE’S MINE.

And somehow I was sitting there like: Yes, Caz. We know. Please continue. 😂

Because underneath all of that possessiveness was genuine devotion. And that made the ending even better for me because Salem and Caz don’t simply end up together.

THEY GET MARRIED. ❤️

They choose each other permanently.

My one real criticism is that Enigma saves SO much of the secret-society and murder-mystery resolution for the final third. Once the answers start coming, there are so many revelations packed together that I wanted the story to slow down and let everything breathe.

But importantly: I still thought the ending was incredibly satisfying.

Salem finally gets the answers she’s spent so long searching for about her sister. She and Caz build a life together. Salem reconnects with her mother, and Caz forms a relationship with her too. And considering Caz has lost everyone in his own family, that last part hit differently. 🥹

I really enjoyed this book.

The resolution may have moved too quickly, but the destination was exactly where I wanted to end up.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Dark. Atmospheric. Romantic. Mysterious.

There are two kinds of suffering in this world:

Reading the devastating plot twist yourself…

…and sitting across from your sister while she unknowingly marches DIRECTLY toward it. 😂

Tamara: “OMG, I love this character! I hope nothing bad happens to them!”

Me: 🙂☕️

Suddenly I am deeply interested in my iced coffee.

And the table.

And that plant over there.

Actually, has anyone ever really appreciated the architectural integrity of a napkin before??

Because I absolutely CANNOT look at her. 😂

One wrong eyebrow movement and the entire plot is compromised.

DO NOT MAKE EYE CONTACT.
DO NOT REACT.
ACT NATURAL.

Meanwhile, internally: YOU KNOW TOO MUCH.

Please tell me I’m not the only person whose face becomes an immediate spoiler when someone is reading one of my favorite books. 😂📚

📚 VERITY BY COLLEEN HOOVER — 4.5 ⭐️

⚠️ MAJOR SPOILER WARNING ⚠️

If you haven’t read Verity, STOP HERE. Seriously. This is one of those books where you really don’t want someone ruining the twists for you.

I read this entire book in one sitting last night, and I completely understand why people are still arguing about this ending.

The autobiography made me absolutely HATE Verity.

I’ve read plenty of books featuring horrible people, but the way Verity describes her resentment and hatred toward her own children was genuinely difficult to read. By that point, I had completely made up my mind about her.

And then I found out… THIS WOMAN CAN MOVE?!?! I was not prepared. 😂

But somehow Colleen Hoover wasn’t finished messing with me because then we get the letter.

Suddenly Verity claims the autobiography wasn’t a confession at all. It was “villain journaling”, a writing exercise, and Jeremy had discovered it, believed it was real, and tried to kill her.

And I’ll admit it: For a little while, I felt guilty for how much I hated her. But then I kept thinking about it.

And thinking about it.

And now?

🚩 I’m Team Manuscript.

I think Verity wrote the letter as a cover-up or insurance policy in case the manuscript was ever discovered.

I simply cannot get past how intimate, detailed, and malicious that manuscript was. Could someone technically write something that horrible as an exercise? Sure.

Do I believe Verity did? Nope.

But Jeremy isn’t exactly leaving this book with my full confidence either. 😂 There is something about him that doesn’t sit completely right with me.

And that’s exactly why I loved the ending. There is no comfortable answer. You have Verity’s manuscript. You have Verity’s letter.

And then Colleen Hoover basically leaves you alone with both and says:

You figure it out.

RUDE. 😂

I hated her. Then I felt guilty for hating her. Then I questioned whether I should feel guilty at all.

Now I NEED TO KNOW:

👇 Are you Team Manuscript or Team Letter?

📚 BOOK REVIEW | HARVEST SEASON — BRYNNE WEAVER
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5

⚠️ SPOILER WARNING: The slides AND the review below discuss major plot points and the ending of Harvest Season.

Cape Carnage continues to be one of the most chaotic, murderous, completely unhinged fictional towns I’ve ever visited… and apparently I have no intention of leaving. 😂🔪

I had a genuinely great time with Harvest Season.

Harper and Nolan are still Harper and Nolan: messy, intense, obsessive, weirdly perfect for each other, and somehow capable of making murder feel like relationship bonding.

And Morpheus?

Still the pretty little murder bird.
Still hilarious.
Still deserves everything. 🐦‍⬛

But Arthur was the part of this book that hit me emotionally. His storyline brought so much heart into all of the insanity surrounding Cape Carnage, which made what happened to him hurt that much more.

And THEN we have Sheriff Yates.

Once the ending revealed what Yates/La Plume had actually been doing, so many pieces fell into place.

He wasn’t simply watching Harper. He was systematically dismantling her sense of safety.

He manipulated the black-knight chessboard tied to her trauma. He secretly watched Harper and Arthur through hidden cameras. He planted Bryce Mahoney’s titanium plate in Arthur’s garden knowing that Nolan was the only person Harper had told about it.

Then he murdered Arthur and left “Time demands its toll” written in Arthur’s blood… a quote connected directly to Nolan.

He didn’t need to tell Harper Nolan betrayed her. He created enough evidence for Harper to reach that conclusion herself. THAT is what made Yates terrifying to me.

By the time Harper is grieving Arthur and furious with Nolan, Yates has already accomplished exactly what he wanted.

And the entire time we’re watching Harper believe Nolan betrayed her…

Nolan has actually been kidnapped by Yates.

RUDE.

Absolutely RUDE. 😂

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A strong 4 stars from me.

And I want to emphasize that because I don’t use 4 stars to mean “almost good enough.”

Four stars means I really loved the book.

Five stars is my spectacular category. That’s when a book gives me something extra… that indescribable thing that makes it stand apart from other books I’ve loved.

Harvest Season didn’t disappoint me. It didn’t “miss the mark.” It was a great 4-star read that did exactly what it was supposed to do.

And considering that ending accomplished its primary objective of making me desperately want Hunting Season…

Mission accomplished, Brynne Weaver. 😂🔪

🐦‍⬛ See you in Cape Carnage.

🩺 FICTIONAL BOYFRIENDS: THERAPIST FILE

The therapist said to make a list of red flags.

I accidentally made a wishlist instead.

Apparently “morally grey,” “emotionally unavailable,” and “may overthrow kingdoms” are supposed to be dealbreakers.

…I disagree.

Who are we kidding? If he remembers my favorite tea, looks at me once every 300 pages, and would burn down a kingdom in my defense… I’m scheduling the second date.

Who’s your ultimate morally grey book boyfriend? 👀

The TBR Pile 🏔️📚

Scientists are still trying to determine exactly when my To-Be-Read pile became its own mountain range.

My responsibilities? Tiny little molehill.
My TBR? Basically Everest.

Every time I finish one book, three more somehow appear. At this point, I’m not trying to conquer my TBR… I’m just hoping it doesn’t become visible from space. 😂

Tell me I’m not the only one…

⚠️ SPOILER WARNING: This review contains major spoilers for the Heartstring Duet.

How do you review a story about Death falling in love?

I honestly don’t know.

Because somehow, Liv Zander took one of the darkest concepts imaginable and transformed it into one of the most beautiful love stories I’ve ever read.

I absolutely loved Crown Me Dead, but Crown Me Yours completely stole my heart. I finished it in less than five hours through immersive reading with my BOOX and the audiobook because I simply couldn’t put it down. Every chapter pulled me deeper into Vale and Elara’s story until I reached the last page with tears streaming down my face. Happy tears.

This world is brutal. The rot is graphic. The violence is unsettling. The fantasy doesn’t shy away from the darkness for a single second. Yet somehow, beneath all of that darkness is a story overflowing with hope, devotion, sacrifice, and unconditional love.

Vale and Elara have become two of the most extraordinary characters I’ve read in a very long time. Their chemistry is incredible, but what made me fall in love with them wasn’t the romance alone. It was the quiet moments. The trust they built. The way they chose one another.

But what truly broke my heart was the reality of their love. Vale is Death. From the moment he falls in love with Elara, he already knows how their story ends. He knows she is mortal. He knows she will grow old while he remains exactly the same. He knows he will one day lose her and spend eternity carrying that grief. He knows all of that… And he chooses to love her anyway.

That single choice became the emotional heartbeat of this entire duet. Most love stories ask whether love can survive. This one asks something far more powerful: Is love still worth choosing when you already know it will end?

By the time I finished this book, my answer was yes.

One of my favorite parts of the story was that we didn’t just watch Vale and Elara fall in love, we watched them build an entire life together. They became husband and wife. They became parents. They became grandparents.

Then came the ending. I knew it was coming. Vale knew it was coming. Elara knew it was coming. It still absolutely wrecked me.

Watching Elara grow old wasn’t heartbreaking because she was dying. It was heartbreaking because it meant she had lived. She experienced a full and beautiful life surrounded by the family they created together, with Vale exactly where he promised he would always be, right beside her until her final breath. Then, true to his word, he remained with every generation that followed.

This wasn’t the traditional happily ever after that fantasy romances usually give us, nor was it a story about cheating death. It was about proving that love is worth choosing, even when loss is inevitable. Somehow, it felt even more beautiful than a traditional fantasy romance.

The Heartstring Duet completely wrecked me, healed me, and reminded me why I fell in love with fantasy romance in the first place.

Without question, this is one of my favorite reads of the year, and it’s a story I’ll be recommending for a very long time.
