"For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and losses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his own soul?

We Continue in Hope.

We have come to the end of another Advent season. We should all know by now, that the anticipation of waiting does not stop with the ending of the Christmas season but continues until the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This Christmas season is a time when we recognize the birth of our savior. We are often reminded to, “remember the reason for the season” Christ our Lord, our Savior’s birth. Christ came after a long-awaited time. What we know from scripture is, even though they waited, “When He came to his own, His own did not received Him. But as many as received Him to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” (John 1:11-12).
Our time to get to know the Lord Jesus Christ is now. It would be a very sad for Christ to return after this long-awaited time and we hear the words, “depart from me. I know you not” (Matthew 7:21-23). The good news is that Christ was born. In a few short months we will be talking about how Christ was crucified but rose on the third day. We will talk about how he ascended into heaven, and now set on the right hand of God and we will even celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit.
All of these are important events in the life of a believer. We base our Christian living on all these principles. We continue our anticipation of waiting, hoping, preparation, the joy of our hearts all because Christ was born, and because of the Love of God. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
So, our hope continues, our time of preparation continues, our joy in the Lord, should continue, and we should continue abiding in the Love of God, because in anticipation we are still waiting on the coming of the Lord. Merry Christmas to all!

Hello, this is Elder Fonville with Morning Coffee and the Bible, coming to you from Psalm 23:3(a). “He restores my Soul.”

I like to watch the DIY Network or HGTV Network. It is amazing how these builders can take a house or room, which has been neglected and restore it to usefulness. We get to see the finished product, but do not see all the work and efforts that went into restoring the project, since most of the work is completed behind the scenes.
Isn’t that how life is? We as humans undergo many transformations. Many times, we neglect our physical and spiritual life until the day comes that we realize we cannot do this life thing on our own. We realize that we need someone bigger that we are, to lead and guild us through life, we need a savior.
On that day, we called on the name of the Lord, and the word of the Psalmist comes to mind, “He restores my soul” What I like about “He restores my soul” is that when we call of His name, Christ does not try to take us back to the beginning, but he meets us were we are, and the restorations beings there.
Just like the house or room that is being restored, most of the work is done behind the scenes, our souls, our inner beings are being restored, to bring us back to God, by the blood of Jesus. No one knows what we have had to go through to be restored, but they can see the finished product.
Maybe, “finished product” is the wrong terms to use. Our souls are for eternality. Maybe, “restoring product” is a better term. Do not like that term either? Well, you get the picture. As our faith increases, we are being restored daily, Hebrews 3: 12-14 reminds us that we should not allow an evil heart of unbelief to cause us to depart from God, but that we exhort one another daily, while it is called “today”, least any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end.
That day when we called on the name of the Lord, we had confidence that He heard our plea, and answered our prayer. In that same confidence we are to continue to worship the Lord, remembering that he is the restorer of our souls.

If we turn a blind eye to the things that are going on around us, if we think that it has nothing to do with us, perhaps everyone will listen.

This video introduces a poem that was written at the beginning of Front Porch Ministry. This poem entails the purpose of the ministry and reflects on early childhood memories. Within the poem, Jeremiah 8:22, Isaiah 22:22-23, and a line from the Negro Spiritual,” There is a Balm in Gilead” (William,1969). We are encouraged to remember from where we have come, consider where we are now, and where do we want to go.

Morning Coffee and the Bible with Elder Fonville. Good Morning.

On Wednesday morning, October 13, 2021, the Lord led me to Psalm 37. As I read and begin to study Psalm 37, I realized fully how David experiences were very similar to our experiences today. David is not praising the LORD, he is not praying to the LORD, but David is offering the readers general instructions on how not to get caught up with the wicked in our mist.
We do not have to look very far to see the works of the evil doers. For some of us, we only must look within our own homes, our workplace, our communities, and yes in our churches to see what the evil doer is doing. David warns us not to become angry or heated over their works, and the illusion of prosperity. Their prosperity may seem real, and it may be real, but will be short lived, according to the words of David.
As true believers we must be content and rest in God’s faithfulness. God is not blind to the working of the evil doer, or “slack concerning his promises ( 2 Peter 3:9). We must put our trust in the Lord, there are great promises made to those who do. In due season, the evil doer will be cut down. Even God laughs at the evil doer because He knows their days are numbered.
Do not fret, trust in the Lord.

Morning Coffee & the Bible
Morning song: “God Did It”, by Evelyn Turrentine
We sometimes forget to reflect on the good things in our lives. It seems as if, the bad things are much easier to remember, but it is those memories that keep us in bo***ge.
What is happening in your life that is good, this morning?
But remember to count it all joy, because even the trails that we experience is meant to test our faith, and to produce patience giving us full knowledge that our patience that we a made perfect and complete, lacking nothing. (James 1-4)
Thanks Pastor Wilkins, Back Swamp Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, 1414 Bear Grass Road, Williamston, NC 27892 for your teaching these past few weeks.

The conclusion is this: There are no conclusions to God's missions. God's mission is to always draw people to Himself. We as servants are His instruments by which His mission is carried out.
