This week on Homegrown Healing, we’re taking a closer look at a struggle many veterans face long after their service — PTSD and the challenges of navigating the VA system.

In “Invisible Battles: Veterans, PTSD, and the Fight for Support,” Logan and Paige talk about how difficult it can be for veterans to access care, obtain their disability ratings, and find someone who will truly listen. They explore why the process feels overwhelming, especially in rural communities, and share how patience, advocacy, and connection can make all the difference for the men and women who served our country.

This week on Homegrown Healing, we’re taking a closer look at a topic that’s often overlooked in small-town life — eating disorders.

In “Eating Disorders in Van Zandt County (and Beyond),” Logan and Paige talk about how these struggles don’t just exist in big cities. They’re here too — in our schools, our churches, and sometimes even our own families. Together, they unpack the stigma surrounding mental health in rural communities and share how connection, compassion, and open conversations can lead to real healing.

Understanding Caregiver Burnout

Caregiving is one of the most meaningful callings, but it can also be one of the hardest. In this episode, Logan and Paige explore what caregiver burnout really looks like, why it’s so common among those who give the most, and how to recognize the signs before exhaustion takes over. From emotional fatigue to the importance of setting healthy boundaries, this conversation is a reminder that caring for others starts with caring for yourself.

🎙 New Episode Out Now!
This week, Homegrown Healing goes live from Washington, D.C.

Logan and Paige take you inside Alliance Advocacy Week, where East Texas voices met national decision-makers. Joined by New Life’s own Tyler Jeffrey, they share what it was like to walk the halls of Congress, why advocacy matters for rural communities, and how policy decisions in D.C. directly shape care for families, veterans, and neighbors back home.

From the heart of Capitol Hill to the heart of East Texas, this episode reminds us that every story counts — and your voice matters.

Heard a rumor that two weeks from today there might be a podcast about our team at New Life Home Healthcare’s experience this week in Washington, D.C. 👀 stay tuned!

This week, some of our team traveled to Washington, D.C. for Alliance Advocacy Week to share the stories and needs of families right here in Texas. We had the opportunity to meet with several of our legislators, including Sen. John Cornyn, Sen. Ted Cruz, Rep. Keith Self, Rep. Lance Gooden, Rep. Nathaniel Moran, and Rep. Pat Fallon.

We spoke about how proposed Medicare cuts would make it harder for families—especially in rural communities—to receive care in the place they feel safest: their homes. With thousands of Americans turning 65 every day, the need for home healthcare has never been greater.

At New Life, we believe every patient deserves not only access to care, but the ability to choose who provides it. We are grateful to represent our community in these conversations and will continue working to make sure your voice is heard.

New Episode: Gender Roles (How They Help & Hurt)

In small towns, traditions often shape what it means to be a man or a woman. These roles can provide structure and pride—but they can also bring pressure, silence, and limitation.

In this week’s episode, Logan and Paige dive into the help and harm of gender roles in East Texas, exploring how culture, faith, and tradition intersect—and how the next generation is beginning to rewrite the script.
