Real farm life is definitely not picture-perfect 😂🐓🦃

Today I’m introducing you to a few of our backyard chickens and our blind turkey while giving you a glimpse of what everyday life on our little Ohio homestead actually looks like. No cute outfit. The garden is definitely keeping me humble this year. 😂🌱 Today’s garden harvest had some great wins… and a few things that apparently missed the memo completely. From picking fresh vegetables to figuring out why some plants just aren’t producing, this is the real side of backyard gardening and growing your own food.

Not every plant thrives, not every harvest goes as planned, and that’s part of learning to grow a garden. 🥕🍅🌶️

The onion harvest has officially started! 🧅🌱 I’ve got them spread out on tiers with plenty of airflow while they dry, but now I’m trying to decide what to do with them all.

I’m thinking about chopping a bunch, vacuum sealing them, and tossing them in the freezer so I have garden-grown onions ready for meals all winter.

Would you freeze them, cure them for storage, or do a little of both? 👇

🦃 Turkey SOS! This poor turkey isn’t staying with the rest of the flock, is running into waters/feeders/walls. It doesn’t notice when anything else is around unless it’s touched. We need help for this little guy. It keeps going back into the coop because it hears the turkey babies making noise and finds comfort. However, I’m worried it won’t figure out the water and food placement.

Is it time to pull the onions from the garden? We had one set flower and I heard that it can be used to save the seeds. Has anyone kept the flower and successfully created more onions with it? Are we freezing the onions or hanging in the basement on pantyhose to use as needed?

Here’s the other rv travel trailer option we’re considering. Does anyone have a good travel trailer model similar to this one? It might be our winner!! Also, if you need a Toyhauler + midbunk + loft then ours is about to be traded in unless someone buys it this week!
