has been serving the local wellness scene for over two decades.

The numbers are insane: 200,000+ student visits, 35,000+ classes taught, and they’ve trained more than 1,000 yoga teachers through their certification programs.

They’re obsessed with creating a non-intimidating environment, and they’ve built their entire business around being welcoming to complete beginners - not just the human pretzels who’ve been practicing for years.

They’ve also invested in the largest studios in Wilmington, including a state-of-the-art hot yoga room with showers.

If you’ve been curious about yoga but intimidated by the whole scene, this is the place to start.

started as a simple food truck in 2018, and quickly became Wilmington’s most popular mobile eatery. By 2020, they were so successful they ditched the truck entirely and opened a permanent restaurant.

What makes this place special is their approach to grilled cheese. The husband-wife team (Brendan and Molly Curnyn) are using their fine dining background to create something completely different.

Both self-taught chefs who spent years working on luxury yachts around the world, they’ve taken the most nostalgic sandwich in America and elevated it with housemade ingredients like their signature tomato jam.

The genius of CheeseSmith is making food that feels fancy without being intimidating. It’s comfort food that doesn’t make you feel like a child.

is solving a problem every busy professional in Wilmington faces: how to eat healthy without spending hours in the kitchen.

What makes this meal prep service different is the founder’s background. Louise Davenport isn’t some random person who decided to start a food business - her father founded Ellwood Thompson’s, a pioneering organic market in Richmond that was doing farm-to-table 30 years ago when it was still considered hippie nonsense.

After working as an elementary school teacher and health coach, she spotted a massive gap in Wilmington’s food scene: convenient meals that are actually good for you.

Her meals are completely free of refined sugars, gluten, and processed oils, and she sources ingredients from local farms like Red Beard and Seaview Crab Company.

The coolest part? Zero waste - everything comes in reusable glass containers in a cooler bag that gets picked up the following week.

Tucked away on the second floor of Yoga Salt in the South Front District is - Wilmington’s only fully plant-based coffee shop.

These folks have built their entire business around a simple concept: serve only what they’d give to their own mothers.

While most coffee shops are pumping you full of dairy and sugar, Cafe Mata uses only organic, plant-based ingredients in everything from their lattes to their raw cheesecakes and truffles.

They’re also serious about sustainability, using biodegradable to-go cups and locally roasted coffee.

The best part? Unlike most “healthy” food spots, their stuff actually tastes good.

If you’re tired of feeling like garbage after your morning coffee run, this hidden gem is worth finding.

isn’t your typical Americanized Mexican restaurant with watered-down margaritas and bland cheese dip.

This place was started by four siblings who emigrated from Jalisco, Mexico in 1994 and spent years working in local restaurants before launching their own spot in 2006 to continue their father’s taco legacy.

What makes Los Portales different is they don’t dumb down their food for American plates. They offer twelve different meat options including cheek, tongue, and tripe - stuff you’d actually find in Mexico but rarely see in the US.

They make their tortillas fresh daily at their own tortillería without preservatives, and they serve regional Mexican dishes most places don’t bother with.

If you’re tired of Tex-Mex masquerading as authentic Mexican food, this is the real deal.

There’s a 1,000-square-foot brick building in Wilmington’s Northside neighborhood that’s seen some serious history. It originally housed NC Mutual Life Insurance Company - once the largest black-owned enterprise in the world.

Now it’s home to , a sandwich shop that’s doing something completely different from your typical lunch spot.

Instead of boring turkey clubs, they’re creating globally-inspired sandwiches you won’t find anywhere else in town. They’re also collaborating with top breweries across the country and featuring rotating local artists.

What makes this place special is how they’re honoring the building’s rich history while creating something entirely new.

If you’re looking for the best sandwiches in Wilmington, give them a visit.

There’s a hidden gem in Leland (just one exit off the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge) that’s quietly building a dessert empire with three generations of family members running the show.

is seriously misleading as a name. Yes, they make incredible gourmet popcorn (they’re THE official provider for UNCW sports), but that’s just the beginning.

They’re also cranking out homemade fudge, made-to-order mini donuts, and serving world award-winning, super premium ice cream.

They’ve got tons of gluten-free, dairy-free, and allergen-free options - including homemade waffle bowls that won’t kill people with allergies.

The only downside? Their town doesn’t allow roadside signs, so you actually have to know about them to find them.

has been crushing it in Wilmington for almost 7 years now, and they’ve built their entire business on a refreshingly simple concept: craft beer that’s approachable

Their taproom has become a legitimate community hub and their restaurant on Wrightsville is the perfect place for date night or dinner with friends.

The coolest part? They’re making more beer than ever, which means they’ve figured out how to scale without sacrificing what made them special in the first place.

We’ll be hosting out first in person event at their Randall Parkway location, and we want you to join us!

Juan and Jackie aren’t your typical retail store owners. After years grinding in the high-stress marketing world, they decided to completely reinvent their lives around something they actually cared about.

They moved to Wilmington (with their puppy Perry) and opened - a specialty shop focused exclusively on premium extra virgin olive oils and balsamic vinegars.

What makes this place different is the owners’ backgrounds. Juan brings his storytelling skills from marketing, while Jackie leverages her experience as a health coach to help customers understand the wellness benefits of quality oils.

They’ve created this perfect little spot where culinary enthusiasm meets nutritional expertise.

It’s the kind of specialized shop you’d expect to find in a much larger city.

If you’re looking for high quality olive oils you can’t find anywhere else, go check em’ out!
