"Fellow Kenyans, It is unfortunate that MPs like Hon. Peter Kaluma and Hon. Sam Atandi, together with Senator Ledama, continue to insult MCAs for executing our constitutional duty of oversight through impeachment. Branding us as “primitive,” “greedy,” or even reducing former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza’s impeachment to a “gender war” is baseless and disrespectful to devolution.
Article 176 and 185 of the Constitution, alongside Section 33 of the County Governments Act, empower MCAs to legislate, approve budgets, and hold governors accountable, a process upheld by the courts. Mocking MCAs without substance only exposes arrogance and disregard for the law.
I urge these leaders to respect MCAs as duly elected representatives. Devolution demands collaboration, not insults. Let us serve Kenyans, not undermine one another." Robert Alai, MCA Kileleshwa ward
