The other day, Doug and Mel showed up at my door with Cledith… and I knew right away something wasn’t okay.
If you’ve seen them in my videos, you know how much that dog means to them. She’s not just a dog… she’s family. She’s been with them through everything.
But this time, she couldn’t walk.
Her back legs weren’t working. She was dragging herself across the ground, confused, scared… not understanding what was happening to her own body.
I didn’t even grab a camera. None of that mattered.
We dropped everything and rushed to get her help.
Thanks to Feeding Pets of the Homeless, we were able to get her seen right away… but the news we got back is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
Cledith is paralyzed.
And it’s permanent.
She’s only 3 years old.
Doug and Mel are already trying to survive, living in a van, doing everything they can to get by… and now they’re faced with taking care of a dog that can’t walk, can’t control her body, and needs constant care.
And the hardest part… there are no easy answers.
Just really heavy decisions that nobody should have to make.
This is the side of things you don’t always see.
There are days like this that don’t make it into videos. Days that stay with you. Days that are just… heavy.
I’ve been there with people before… having to say goodbye to animals they love because they had no other choice. I’ve seen what that does to someone.
And now they might be facing that same reality.
So if you’re going through something right now… something heavy, something unfair… just know you’re not the only one.
There are people out there fighting battles you’d never even know about.
We just don’t always see it.
And the hardest part… There are no easy answers...
Hug your people and pets a little tighter tonight.
