STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT NORTHERN BLACKFORD SOUTHERN WELLS SOUTHWESTERN ADAMS AND JAY COUNTIES THROUGH 615 PM EDT
At 529 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms near Montpelier, or 8 miles north of Hartford City, moving southeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE Radar indicated.

IMPACT Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail
damage to vegetation is possible.

Locations impacted include Portland, Montpelier, Geneva, Pennville, Westchester, Center, Nottingham, Bryant, Salamonia, Mcnatts, Trinity, Brice, Bellfountain, Keystone, Domestic, Balbec, Dillman, Petroleum, College Corner, and Liber.

Warm sunshine to isolated storms later 🌤️➡️⚡️

Our stationary front will help spark rain and storms mainly late this afternoon and evening. Over time the cells will drift south from northern Indiana to central Indiana. They will go south because they want to feed on more warmth where it hasn’t stormed yet.

SEVERE
There is a level 1 severe threat over northeastern Indiana. There is a chance it gets expanded. We may have some gusty winds with small hail in a few cells.

Today will be breezy, with wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph this afternoon. Tonight, scattered showers and thunderstorms will move north to south across the area. Some storms may produce gusty winds and small hail. Additional isolated to scattered showers and storms will be around on Wednesday. Look for highs in the 70s today and Wednesday, with lows in the middle 50s to around 60 tonight.

Isolated showers after 5pm. Widespread frost, mainly before 8am. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a high near 55. Breezy, with a west wind 8 to 13 mph increasing to 16 to 21 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 10%.

Sunday Night
Isolated showers before 8pm. Widespread frost, mainly after 4am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 31. Northwest wind 9 to 14 mph becoming light north northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 10%.

📣 Storm timing map! A complex of storms are expected to move into NW Indiana after 10/11pm EDT tonight! The storms will be at their strongest point in Illinois and NW Indiana before rapid weakening is expected with eastward progression. The best chances for a severe thunderstorm are across NW Indiana earlier tonight. As these storms move east, they will likely fall apart and loose most of their lightning too. However, gusty winds are still possible ad they move east but the severe risk lowers with eastward progression.

NEED TO KNOW
We are in a very unsettled weather pattern with June-like air. It’s warm and humid and there’s a frontal system to our west with a weak jet stream overhead. That means we can get some showers and storms, but to be honest it’s not very organized and hard to exactly pinpoint.

Not everyone will get wet, but we do expect some showers and storms later today and tonight. Keep an eye on the radar.
I think central Indiana’s highest chance for a few severe storms would be this evening. Northern Indiana’s highest chance for some more severe storms will be tonight.
