🚨 SCAM ALERT from the Polk County Sheriff's Office 🚨
Hey neighbors — Newzy Neighbor here with an important update straight from the Polk County Sheriff's Department.
Please be aware: The Polk County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call or text you about a warrant or ask you to pay a fine over the phone or by text. If someone claims you can “clear things up” by sending money, it's a scam — no matter who they say they are or what name they use.
These scammers can sound convincing, but don’t fall for it. If you get a call like this, hang up immediately. And please help spread the word to your friends and loved ones.
If you ever doubt the legitimacy of a call claiming to be from law enforcement, ask for the caller’s badge number, supervisor’s name, and assigned district. Then head to the official PCSO contact page at polksheriff.org/contact-us to verify before doing anything else.
Remember: If they can’t answer those simple questions, they don’t work for PCSO.
