You have a voice and your neighbors desperately need you to use it. Haitians are being tracked with ankle monitors. Masked, unidentified thugs are brutalizing people in the streets, pointing g*ns in the faces of legal observers. Peaceful protestors are being thrown in prison.
Always record interactions with any kind of enforcement, you have that legal right. You also have the right to talk to the offcers - “what is your name and badge number? Fedral agents are required to identify themselves.”; “Do you have a judicial warrant? Can I see it?”; “Are you detaining someone? On what grounds?”.
You also have the right to speak to the human being detained - “Is there someone I can contact on your behalf? Phone number?/ ¿A quien puedo contactar por ti? Número de teléfono?”; “you can remain silent and request a lawyer.”/“Tienes derecho a permanecer en silencio, tienes derecho a llamar a tu abogado.”
