CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Trees play a vital role in cleaning the air, stabilizing the terrain, dispersing rainfall, and providing habitat and sustenance for the smallest life forms to the largest. Trees figure as the center of the universe in mythologies around the world.

This collection will be a celebration of trees, and you are invited to submit poetry, fictional and nonfictional prose (500-word limit), and visual art (be sure it is high-resolution, please).

Please submit one work only, and be sure it's your best. Be sure you have read our guidelines before completing this form.

Please note that producing a collection takes a significant amount of time and effort. We do not charge reading fees or require contributors to jump through nonsensical hoops. We ask, in return, that you submit original, AI-free work that you have not submitted elsewhere or work that has been published previously. Please be patient as we work hard to produce a high-quality book.

You will hear back from us once we start working on the book in late spring 2026!

For the last month of 2025, here are the poets appearing in the Orenaug Mountain Poetry Journal.

At the end of the month, it will be the end of our second full calendar year, and we love you all for coming along on this adventure.

Halfway through 2026, OMPJ will turn three.

Baseball poetry is a genre. You may have noticed. But there aren't "genres" for other sports. But we're going to change that.

By all means, submit your baseball poetry. But let's hear what you have to say about other sports in your life, too. Even the slightest reference to a sport in your poetry counts for this collection.

Saturday, October 18 at 3:30 p.m.

Hosted by the Arts Alliance of Woodbury at Old Town Hall, 5 Mountain Road, Woodbury

Come early and browse the work of local artists ahead of the holiday season. Better yet, make a day of it in Woodbury and take a walk along the historic Main Street, have a nice lunch at one of the town's award-winning cafes, and then take in the art and poetry.

We wanted to remind you that there are three open calls for submissions for Orenaug Mountain Publishing anthologies.

Tough Kids - Contribute a poem, work of short prose (500 words, maximum), or work of visual art. What does it mean to be tough? In what ways can kids be tough? How do we honor that toughness? DEADLINE: October 31 (6 p.m. ET)

Stillness Between the Lights - The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, there’s a special kind of magic in the air, a magic you could feel in the stillness of a snowy night, in the searching for just the right tree, in the finding or creating of just the right gift for a loved one. What makes the holiday season special? What is your magic? Do you still feel it, or where do you try to find it when you can’t? Please dig deep and submit poems that are more than just about what’s on the surface of the season. DEADLINE: November 1 (6 p.m. ET)

Echoes, Whispers, and Shouts - This collection focuses on the milestone of the coming new year, moves between looking back and looking forward, encompassing themes of reflection and closure, of hope and new beginnings, of resolution and self-Improvement, of time and mortality, or of human connection. Your poem should be a meditation, an invitation for readers to find a quiet place to sit, read, and contemplate the changing of the calendar year. DEADLINE: November 15 (6 p.m. ET)

SUBMIT HERE: https://www.orenaugmountainpublishing.com/about/submissions

We will give away two books of each collections via a random drawing of contributors.

Looking forward to reading your poetry.
