BUD PROFILE
NUTTAVUT CHANPRASIT

Nuttavut "Bud" Chanprasit is a producer, song-writer, engineer and all-around great guy with a passion for music, film and television. He was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand and had mastered the piano before he even started school. He quickly moved on to classical Thai instruments as an early teenager and had the honor of studying with national artist. By the

age of 18 he’d joined his first band - Fong Sa Bu, and after studying Business at Assumption University in Thailand he went to work for his family's business. In 1992, Bud moved to the United States and enrolled in classes with Mark Harrison, one of the most sought-after contemporary music educators in the U.S. It was during these early days in LA that he met his longtime friend and fellow music collaborator, Prajak "Ray" Songim, and together they created "Time 2" a popular Thai band that performed throughout the USA in the 90s. As his band became more and more popular, young people from all over Southern California started to come together and soon a new generation of Thai musicians in the US was born! What started out as a bunch of friends throwing BBQs and making music together soon turned in to something more formal, and pretty soon Bud, Ray and their good friend Thawirat "Joe" Chotirawi decided to create FOME, which stood for the perfect combination of "Family" and "Home." Up to 60 people were working with FOME and in 1999 they released their first album - "Synchronize" - in the United States. In Thailand it was distributed as "Far and Away," and one of the songs was featured on the movie soundtrack to "Go 6" by Pot Anon. The popularity of FOME also resulted in a joint concert with Mr. Bud's music endeavors jump-started a career in television, and over the years he has worked for Thai television stations in Los Angeles doing pretty much everything and anything. He is as comfortable behind the camera as he is writing scripts and editing video. Bud has also been active in LA’s entertainment industry and highlights include working as the 1st Sound Engineer on East-West Player's production of "Imelda: A New Musical" (2005) and writing arrangements for popular Japanese Christmas albums (available on iTunes). One of his proudest moments was working on the popular CBS Network TV series “Survivor: Thailand” (Season 5, 2002), where he performed classical Thai music instruments that were used in the show’s soundtrack and culminated in a live performance during the show’s season finale (watched by nearly 25 million viewers). Today, Bud continues to write songs and arrange music as well as produce top-quality TV shows, films and music videos.
