Nemesis RI: Sands of Time (2022) - mini-review
US band Nemesis RI released the album "Sands of Time" back in the fall of 2022, and metal is the style explored on this production. The main parts of this album explore an old school variety of thrash metal, and on the songs revolving most around this specific form it is easy to hear that Metallica has been a major inspiration. From the vocal melody lines and phrasings through to the sound and ex*****on of the guitar riffs, these are songs that in approach, sound and ex*****on land straight into the "Master of Puppets" era Metallica. Elsewhere we get a dynamic take on 80's US heavy metal, with some references to the power metal of the era and possibly some nods in the direction of a band like Manilla Road too. One aspect of this album that will be a bit of a hit or miss element is the mix and production, both of which gives the album a rather distinct underground feel. If underground metal that appears to be made on a budget that explore the legacy of classic era Metallica with some side steps into US style 80's heavy metal, power metal and epic metal sounds like an interesting proposition, this is an album worth investigating.
