Just wanted to clear the air with my page because my inbox has been flooded with questions over the last 5-6 months. Some of the questions have been really good questions and some have made me want to pull my hair out.
I love talking fishing with people and I enjoy answering any general fishing questions about gear, tackle, my boat, techniques, or any other questions about general fishing content. The other types of questions that I get a lot asking for fishing spots or lures that are catching fish get really old so I figured I’d just answer them for everyone here.
Question: do you fish Seneca lake a lot?
Answer: yes I fish Seneca lake pretty much every weekend and occasionally during the week as well. In fact I don’t know many people who consistently fish that lake more than I do.
Question: do you know of any structure or cover that holds fish at Seneca?
Answer: absolutely yes. I can tell you just about every piece of structure or cover is that holds fish and where those are located in the entire lake.
Question: do you give away way points or specific areas that people could fish and catch fish?
Answer: that’s a difficult question to answer partly because I don’t have a single saved waypoint for Seneca. If I did, I wouldn’t just give that information away. In fact the only way point I would ever give away is to the stump field in less than 2 foot of water. Pray for your lower unit or hull if you dare.
Question: I have a tournament in x number of weeks/days there where should I fish to have a chance?
Answer: in the water. That’s where the fish are. This is also a double edged sword because if I give you spots and you can’t catch them, then you are mad because I didn’t give you good information. If I give you spots and you actually do good, did you really earn it?
Question: you post a lot of the stuff you are catching fish on, how much of what you post is actually what happens on the water?
Answer: Less than 50%. I never give away all of my secrets, especially if I know I’m doing something that no one else is. Yes I absolutely catch fish on the lures that get posted, but you will never see the full picture of what happens on my boat. I also don’t make a post for each time I go fishing, especially if I have a tournament or something coming up that I plan to fish.
Question: there’s a tournament at Seneca coming up, do you want to be my partner?
Answer: probably not. If I’m not good enough to fish tournaments at other places then why would I want to fish a tournament at Seneca with you. Plus if you know my tournament track record at Seneca, you’d be better off finding someone else.
Question: I see you post lures that you make, but also gear all the time, do you have any for sale?
Answer: I do make my own lures, they are not for sale for many reasons. I am also not looking to sell anything that I use. If so there will be a post for that.
Question: do you fake your content?
Answer: Not at all, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in awhile.
Question: do you have FFS?
Answer: No
Obviously some of these are meant to be smart ass answers but the point is it gets really old answering questions about people attempting to short cut the learning curve of fishing a body of water. The information that I have on Seneca is from COUNTLESS hours on the water, fishing, idling and graphing, and just plain learning the lake. I’m never willing to just give that information out to whoever asks just because I don’t always fish tournaments. There is absolutely zero substitute for time on the water. I say that because the person you are asking these questions to bought their first boat in 2022 and had only fished a handful of times from a boat prior to that. I have learned so much since that time and it’s from the amount of time put in on the water just trying to get better.
Like with anything in life, if you want to get better, put in the work, and if you’re still not happy with the results, then work harder!
