To the owners, staff, and everyone involved with A Taste of Ohio Wine, Bourbon & Beer,

I want to personally apologize on behalf of myself and Southeastern Ohio Voice for the lack of quality photos and video from last night’s event.

This one truly bothers me because when we tell a business or organization that Southeastern Ohio Voice is coming to cover an event, I want our word to mean something.

We put our trust in our former camera/media person, who repeatedly expressed how excited he was to attend and cover this event. Because of that, we trusted that the evening would be captured professionally and in a way that represented both your establishment and Southeastern Ohio Voice well.

Unfortunately, that did not happen.

We do have footage from last night, but after seeing the quality of it, I cannot in good conscience post it.

Yes, I want to protect the reputation and standards of Southeastern Ohio Voice—but this decision is about much more than us.

It is about YOU.

Your establishment is absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere, the setup, the people, and the entire experience deserved to be captured in a way that made someone looking at those pictures or watching that video say, “I need to go there.”

The footage we received does not show that.

We would rather publicly admit that we fell short than post something that fails to represent the beauty of your establishment and the hard work that went into your event.

While I cannot personally control another person’s actions, I can take responsibility for who I trusted to represent Southeastern Ohio Voice. That responsibility falls on me.

I am deeply sorry.

As an owner, I take our reputation seriously, but I take the trust our community places in us even more seriously. When someone welcomes us into their business, invites us to an event, or trusts us to tell their story, that means something to me.

You deserved better from us last night.

This situation has also forced us to make changes within Southeastern Ohio Voice. We will be much more careful about who is allowed to represent our name, carry our equipment, and make commitments on behalf of our organization moving forward.

But I don’t believe an apology means very much if we aren’t willing to make things right.

So I want to make a clear to A Taste of Ohio Wine, Bourbon & Beer.

We will properly capture the beauty of your venue, your atmosphere, your products, your staff, and everything that makes your business special.

There will be "no speical expectations" of anything on Friday.

This is simply our way of taking responsibility and trying to make amends for where we fell short.

Nikole Lawson and myself Ida Goins to ensure that the quality of your establishment and event is honored!

Not in a way that was poorly represented by the video take of yesterday's event as we have stated we cannot in good conscious post.

I understand that we cannot recreate last night’s event. We cannot go backward and recapture moments that have already passed. But we can take responsibility for our failure, learn from it, and do everything within our power to make it right moving forward.

Please accept my deepest apology.

Thank you for welcoming us into your establishment and for giving Southeastern Ohio Voice the opportunity in the first place.

We fell short. We own that. We are truly sorry—and we would be grateful for the opportunity to make it right.

With respect and sincerity,

Southeastern Ohio Voice deeply apologies for the content taking so long to post from today's event.

There is no excuse and I won't make excuses for my team.

My current Videographer got in over his head and did not think it was necessary for me to be present for today's event as they could handle it.

As I have said I will not make excuses for my team, as the CEO, this falls back on me and I can assure the community that this will never happen again.

My deepest apologies to A Taste Of Ohio Wine Bourbon & Beer.

The content will be posted tomorrow.

Anyone who continues to make homophobic comments on our page just so that you're aware I am doxing you?

Your community can see the vile hatred that you are spreading. No no before you get your knickers in a twist it does fall underneath freedom of speech. The First Amendment.

09/13/2026

WE SUPPORT EVERYONE. PERIOD. 🏳️‍🌈❤️

There is already enough hate, judgment, and division in this world. Homophobia has no place in the community we are trying to build.

We do NOT pick and choose who deserves our support based on who they love, how they identify, what they look like, where they come from, or whether their life looks like ours.

WE LOVE AND SUPPORT PEOPLE EQUALLY.

Supporting the LGBTQ+ community does not mean taking support away from anyone else. It means standing behind the belief that EVERY human being deserves dignity, respect, safety, and the freedom to be themselves without being bullied, threatened, or treated as less than.

You don’t have to understand someone’s life to respect it. You don’t have to agree on everything to treat another person like a human being.

When we say COMMUNITY, we mean the WHOLE COMMUNITY. Not just the people who look like us, think like us, love like us, or live like us.

We will stand against hate.
We will stand against discrimination.
We will stand against homophobia.
And we will continue supporting EVERYONE.

NO PICKING. NO CHOOSING. NO HATE.
LOVE IS LOVE, AND EVERYONE DESERVES A VOICE. 🏳️‍🌈❤️

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM SOUTHEASTERN OHIO VOICE

LET US BE ABSOLUTELY CLEAR: WE WILL NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR SUPPORTING, RESPECTING, AND SHOWING UP FOR OUR COMMUNITY. ALL OF OUR COMMUNITY.

WE WILL NOT BE PRESSURED, BULLIED, OR SHAMED INTO DECIDING WHICH MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY DESERVE A VOICE.

Southeastern Ohio Voice was created to give our community a platform, and we take that responsibility seriously.

As we prepare to cover an upcoming drag show, we are fully aware that our decision may bring criticism and backlash.

We are covering it anyway.

Not because we expect everyone to agree with everything represented at every event we cover—but because WE SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY.

WE SUPPORT ALL OF OUR COMMUNITY.

WE DO NOT PICK AND CHOOSE WHO DESERVES TO BE SEEN, HEARD, RESPECTED, OR REPRESENTED.

Our responsibility as a community media outlet is not to show up only when something is popular or when everyone agrees. Our responsibility is to report on and represent the people, businesses, organizations, and events that make up southeastern Ohio.

Our community includes people of different backgrounds, religions, cultures, political beliefs, lifestyles, and identities. Those differences do not make someone any less a member of this community.

WE WILL NOT PICK AND CHOOSE WHO MATTERS.

When Southeastern Ohio Voice says we support the community, those words have to mean something.

We cannot proudly cover one group and then turn our backs on another because covering them might make some people uncomfortable. We cannot call ourselves a voice for the community while deciding that certain voices don’t deserve to be heard.

Covering a drag show does not require anyone to change their personal, political, or religious beliefs. Reporting on an event is not a demand that everyone agree with it.

It simply means recognizing:

YOU ARE PART OF THIS COMMUNITY, TOO.

The performers are members of our community. The people attending are members of our community. The businesses, organizations, families, friends, and supporters involved are part of our community.

Their stories matter, too.

We know criticism may come with this decision, and people are entitled to respectfully disagree.

What we will not support is hatred, harassment, threats, bullying, or treating another human being as though they are less deserving of dignity because of who they are.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO AGREE WITH SOMEONE TO TREAT THEM WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT.

Southeastern Ohio Voice will continue covering our businesses, families, organizations, celebrations, tragedies, community events, and the people whose stories deserve to be told.

We will not determine whose story deserves coverage based on whether telling it is popular.

WE SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY.

NOT JUST SOME OF IT.

NOT JUST THE PEOPLE WHO THINK, BELIEVE, LOVE, LIVE, OR LOOK THE SAME.

ALL OF IT.

That isn’t something we are going to apologize for.

That is what being a voice for the community means.

SOUTHEASTERN OHIO VOICE
Our Community. Our Stories. Every Voice Matters.
