Stories That Move Us: Madulu the Seaman – More Than a Film, It’s a Legacy

Meet Amari Murray, the lead youth in Madulu the Seaman and one of our 2025 SVGAO Scholarship Bursary recipients. Today, Amari is a first-year student at the SVG Community College – Division of Technical and Vocational Education, pursuing studies in Properties and Facilities Maintenance—a path fueled by ambition, purpose, and possibility.

Through the vision and artistry of Akley Olton, the film’s producer, Amari was given not only the opportunity to step into a meaningful role on screen, but also a seat at the table—to see himself, his roots, and his future reflected in storytelling that uplifts our community.

Amari’s journey is also deeply personal. His late uncle, known as “Tall 12,” was the film’s central figure. While no longer with us, his story and spirit continue to inspire Amari as he builds his own path forward.

At SVGAO, we believe it truly takes a village. That’s why is more than an event—it’s a celebration with purpose, where stories like Amari’s remind us of the power of opportunity, mentorship, and community support.
