Presleigh is one of our past PRIMETIME attendees at our Chickamauga Public Library. PRIMETIME is an LSTA grant-funded initiative from Georgia Public Library Service, using funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The program targets children most likely to need the library, who currently do not use the library, and invites them to a six-week program where they and their families learn to engage over books and a nice meal.
Presleigh is the youngest of three, and since coming to PRIMETIME, she and her family come to the library weekly to get books, use the computer, attend programs and hang out. Pictured here, Presleigh is playing with one of our WeDo Lego sets, funded through the Georgia Public Library Service technology grant program. Most recently, Presleigh’s family has started bringing Grandma to the library too, where she checks out Large Print books.
We love that there is a little something for everyone at our libraries, to include engaging technology like this WeDo lego set. Libraries are often called “The Great Equalizer” because we ensure that important educational resources are available for free to all income brackets. And with great programs like PRIMETIME, we’ll target those who don’t know about all we have to offer, and bring them into the library to rectify that problem. All this is made possible through the support of the Georgia Public Library Service, which is in turn supported by our Georgia State Legislators, and voters like you.
