Tại Đại lễ Vesak Liên Hiệp Quốc lần thứ 21 diễn ra tại tỉnh Giang Tô (Trung Quốc) vào tuần cuối tháng 5/2026, Trưởng lão Hòa thượng Thích Thiện Nhơn, Phó Pháp chủ Hội đồng Chứng minh, Chủ tịch Hội đồng Trị sự đã có bài tham luận quan trọng với chủ đề 'Trí tuệ Phật giáo vì phát triển bền vững toàn cầu: Hướng tới tương lai chung cho nhân loại".
Trong bài phát biểu, Hòa thượng nhấn mạnh giáo lý Duyên khởi là chìa khóa giải quyết khủng hoảng toàn cầu, kêu gọi chuyển từ tư duy 'cái tôi biệt lập' sang 'Cộng đồng chung vận mệnh'. Ngài đề cao lối sống 'tri túc' để bảo vệ môi trường, dùng tâm từ bi hóa giải xung đột thay vì bạo lực, và kết luận với 5 cam kết hành động cụ thể: phát triển bao trùm, đối thoại hòa bình, tôn trọng thiên nhiên, giáo dục chánh niệm và kinh tế từ bi, vì một tương lai bền vững cho nhân loại.🙏

At the 21st United Nations Vesak Celebration held in Jiangsu Province (China) in the last week of May 2026, Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, Vice Dharma Chief of the Council of Buddhist Elders and Chairman of the Executive Council, delivered an important speech on the topic "Buddhist Wisdom for Sustainable Global Development: Towards a Shared Future for Humanity."
In his speech, the Venerable emphasized the doctrine of Dependent Origination as the key to resolving global crises, calling for a shift from an "isolated self" mindset to a "community of shared destiny." He promoted a "contentment" lifestyle to protect the environment, using compassion to resolve conflicts instead of violence, and concluded with five specific commitments to action: inclusive development, peaceful dialogue, respect for nature, mindfulness education, and compassionate economics, for a sustainable future for humanity. 🙏
