The Architects of Raw Concrete
Brutalism is more than just “heavy” buildings—it’s a masterclass in structural honesty and monumental geometry. Today, we’re looking at three legends who defined the movement:
• Kenzo Tange: The bridge between Japanese tradition and bold, modular clarity.
• Marcel Breuer: Where Bauhaus precision meets the power of massive, sculptural concrete.
• Ernő Goldfinger: A visionary of social housing and rigid, urban-scale functionality.
Bold. Raw. Unapologetic. Which of these masters inspires your work the most?

The Museum of the Future: Redefining Cultural Landscapes in 2026
2026 is set to be a landmark year for cultural architecture. We are witnessing a shift where museums transcend their traditional roles as exhibition containers to become bold architectural statements shaped by technology, heritage, and site-specific narratives.
These upcoming institutions are more than just buildings; they are civic catalysts designed to invite movement, foster interaction, and challenge how we perceive cultural heritage in a digital age.
We have curated a list of 10 must-visit museums opening in 2026 that every design enthusiast should have on their radar. From fluid sculptural forms to refined spatial storytelling, these projects offer a definitive glimpse into the future of the built environment.

🌊 A museum where water flows into architecture.
Zaishui Art Museum by Junya Ishigami blurs the line between building, lake, and landscape — creating the feeling of walking on water.

Jo Nagasaka / Schemata Architects, Uchida Shoten Head Office, Fujisawa-shi, Kanagawa, Japan, 5/2025.

We planned the new head office for Uchida Shōten, a hardware manufacturer established 160 years ago in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
The surrounding area flourished as Fujisawa-juku, the sixth post town along the Tōkaidō road during the Edo period, a town lined with inns, teahouses, and merchants.

Traces of this history remain in places, and the site itself is characterised by its narrow, elongated townhouse-style plot.
During the Edo period, a system known as “frontage taxation” led many townhouses being built with minimized frontage and extended depths along this old Tōkaidō road.

The long plots were then divided into front, rear, and upper/lower sections, each assigned a specific function. Along this road, the front section was typically used as a shop, with the rear serving as living quarters. On this site too, the existing building had offices at the front and fields at the rear.
Furthermore, at the main family residence directly opposite, the front section served as a shop, the rear as a warehouse, and the second floor as living quarters.

The Yohoo Museum takes shape as two interlocking rings raised above the lake, creating courtyards, shaded walkways and open views. Its glass façades shift with the light, giving the building a soft, almost jade-like quality.

Inside, circular openings and elevated terraces connect visitors to both the landscape and the city’s history.
