Production company VieChannel announced Thái VG as 4th coach for TV show “Rap Việt” season 3.

Thái VG (aka Thái Việt G, real name Ngô Thái Minh) is described as “Asian American rap legend”, pioneering rap as a genre in Vietnam. “With 25 years of experience, [he] came into prominence at age 16 with the track ‘Vietnamese Gang,’ […] gaining recognition from even the Latin American and African American hip hop communities.”

Along with , and , Thái VG joins the program panel which also includes judges Karik .koniz and , who were coaches in previous seasons and , who resumed his role as judge. Panelists from (, , music producer ) and are not returning to the program.

Rumors suggest there might be a 5th coach for this season, as the number 5 was teased repeatedly in released press images.

Started in 2020, Rap Việt became a sensation among young audiences and the general public, creating a big wave of interest into hip hop music and culture. Season 3 is slated to premiere later this year.

Rapper Đen Vâu released a new music video titled “Nấu Ăn Cho Em” (T/N: Cooking for You) on May 13. The track features Pia Linh’s voice in the chorus. Đen promises to give all proceeds from the MV to build more schools for children in the mountainous Northwestern region of Vietnam, where education infrastructure lags behind.

The song was written during his trip to one of the schools that he helped build before the pandemic. Đen was quoted, “[For people] to be literate, I realized it takes a lot of efforts from the authorities and local teachers, who work tirelessly to promote the importance of education to people [from less privileged backgrounds][…]. My contribution is just a small part in the effort to help the children.”

“I won’t be the first one [to help build schools for children] and I certainly won’t be the last,” the rapper said he would be committed to helping this project. All proceeds from the music video will be dedicated to the cause as stated at the end of the video.

The music video was shot impromptu during the trip in Mường Chà, Điện Biên province. Đen was seen preparing ingredients, cooking and playing with school children. The video generated positive responses from both the press and netizens for his altruistic and philanthropic initiatives.

Đen is preparing for his live concert “Show của Đen” (T/N: Đen’s Show) which will take place on May 27.
