Bún Riêu Gánh 🇻🇳🍜
One of Saigon's most iconic bowls. What began as a humble mobile cart before 1975 is now a legendary family-run spot serving a rich freshwater crab and tomato broth.
The broth is incredible, but for me the riêu steals the show—a fluffy steamed crab meatloaf made with freshwater crab paste, minced pork and egg.

Most Vietnamese desserts are served cold... but not here. 🍌🔥
Tucked away down a tiny alley in Saigon, Chè Nóng 241 has spent over 30 years serving one of Vietnam's rarest treats: hot chè.
We tried their signature Chè Chuối, Chuối Hấp, and the unbelievably silky Chè Đậu Xanh Đánh.
Would you try hot desserts in 34°C heat? 🤔

🍕 Is this the best pizza in Saigon?
Hidden away down a quiet alley, Trần Pizza is the passion project of self-taught pizzaiolo Trần Trọng Hiếu, serving authentic Neapolitan pizzas from a tiny neighbourhood spot.
I tried the Salami Napoli, Margherita and Marinara, and every single one was outstanding. If you're looking for proper wood-fired pizza in Ho Chi Minh City, this place deserves to be on your list.

First time trying nem nướng — think Vietnam’s answer to a pork kofta, made from seasoned minced pork and grilled over charcoal. 🇻🇳🔥
Not to be confused with thịt nướng, which is sliced grilled pork.
Quán 79 is a District 10 local legend, famous for its giant nem nướng served with rice vermicelli, crispy spring rolls, fresh herbs, peanuts and fish sauce.

This isn't your typical bánh mì with cold cuts and pâté. Instead, it's stuffed with smoky charcoal-grilled thịt nướng (grilled pork), pickled carrot & daikon, fresh coriander, cucumber, secret sauce and chilli sauce, all inside a crispy Vietnamese baguette.
Would you try this?

Thailand’s best pad krapow? 👑🌶️

คุณฉุยกะเพราโบราณ — Khun Chui Traditional Pad Krapow — was crowned number one on the televised food competition The Spoon in 2024 and later earned the Shell Shuan Shim seal in 2025.

I tried the minced beef with their crispy lava egg, plus the crispy pork with a classic fried egg—and honestly, this might be my new king of pad krapow.

Is this Bangkok’s best curry puff? 👀

Hidden in quirky Talat Noi, Khun Phu Curry Puff hits you with the smell of sweet curry before you even reach the shop. I arrived too late for the famous chicken ones, but the taro puffs were still absolutely banging—and easily up there with some of the best I’ve had in Malaysia. 🇹🇭🥟

Hidden inside a family home in Talat Noi, this tiny Thai-Hainanese spot has cooking roots going back over 100 years.

You sit in the owner’s apartment while every dish is cooked fresh right beside you. Proper home cooking and one unforgettable experience. 🔥

I was heading out to film a food edit… then realised I’d forgotten the SD card for my Osmo Pocket 3. 🤦‍♂️

By pure chance, I stumbled across Brown Matcha House — a hidden little café down a quiet Nang Loeng side street with almost no foot traffic, quirky interiors, board games… and a full-size Batmobile.

So I forgot the food edit and filmed this on my phone instead. Sometimes the unplanned edits are the best ones. 🦇🍵
