Luckily, we’re pretty flexible and living without fully knowing what comes next has become second nature.

It’s actually a huge positive in this case; we’d never have traipsed across the world and started to put down roots on the basis of a ‘good chance’ it would pay off before.

The plan might not come together, and if it doesn't, that’s absolutely fine. We’ll go back to our full-time travels.

We think it will, but we’re living in a state of limbo until we get the green light.

We'll share more details soon. For now, we just wanted to tell you that this chapter is coming, we're excited and unsure in equal measure, and we're not going anywhere!

Working in the evenings after our fun is how we’ve paid for all of our travels, but it’s not how everyone does it.

You might be surprised to hear that the hardest place I found to juggle work with the kids was actually in the UK, because I needed to work during the hours that the kids needed the most attention. And it felt very much like I was back on the hamster wheel.

I would love to try out working at the opposite end of the day (hello, South America!) so that I can finish my work before everyone else is getting up. I’m a natural early-riser and I think that would suit me down to the ground!

And of course I should mention that not EVERY day is full of sea turtle releases and water parks. The food shopping still needs doing, clothes still need washing, and kids clubs need attending. But MOST days we’re spending fun, quality time together. And that’s the whole point, right?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: if you're travelling with kids, get yourself into a

Unlimited food that the kids actually ate (which meant I wasn't cramming snacks into my bag and praying they'd touch the airplane meal), complimentary drinks and wifi, a relaxing atmsophere, and nobody asking me if they can buy something from the toy shop.

Perfection!

Proudly a complete disappointment to the system 🙊

No homework, no asking permission for holidays (or making sure Sally hasn't already booked if off), hardly any belongings, and no waiting for a retirement that isn't guaranteed.

Someone recently asked our youngest daughter what her favourite subject was, and she had literally no idea what they were talking about 😆

Because for her, learning isn't divided up into history, geography, and RE. 'Subjects' are so intertwined IRL that it's impossible to separate them out, especially when you're learning through doing as we are on our travels.

Ask her what she loves to do though, or what she's enjoying learning about, and what she's passionate about, and she'll let you know.

Our eldest remembers the subjects from school, but will tell you that the freedom to learn about what she loves is one of her favourite part of our lifestyle (Tudor torture techniques today, in case you're interested 💁‍♀️).
