While we are waiting again this morning, I thought I would share more about yesterday.

Presley became our village brother 11 years ago when our family did our village living on Malo. His family now lives in the capital and we see them and worship at their church almost every time we come through Port Vila. He and his wife and kids have kept us, fed us, and given us sound advice. We praise God for their continued presence in our lives.

So yesterday we got to storian with him, give him 5 audio Bible Proclaimers, and something else amazing happened...

The baby let me hold her!! ☺️ Babies in Vanuatu tend to think white people look weird so they hold tight to their mamas. Kayla didn't like Matt but I got lots of smiles and I got to hold her twice! ❀️

We have paid the second (new) fee for our visas so we should get that in time to fly to Santo on Friday.

Happy Sunday morning. We got to worship with our island family at Sarabetu this morning. Our hearts are all heavy from the Matui ship sinking. Of the 47 people on board, 15 have been located alive on different islands. The boat was mostly filled with women who were traveling home after attending a church celebration πŸ˜”

Lots to do this week so today we rest.

Please Pray πŸ™πŸΌ We took this ship in April last year when our flight was cancelled and we really needed to get to Pentecost. Our ship had men, women, teenagers, kids and babies. A local airplane company will soon do a rescue flyover to see if they can locate the ship.

It's Saturday afternoon here so we really can't do much until Monday. We had to move out of our room so we're at a new place now. My injection has been moved to Wednesday. Our flight is moved to Thursday. There's a new $200 fee for each of us to pay now for our visas. Hopefully that's the last thing we need to do and we can get approved soon. Just keeping in mind that part of the reason why we're needed here is because things aren't easy.

It's a cold rainy morning here in Port Vila and our mood matches it. We're feeling kind of beaten up.

Visa - still no word. We went to a friend's house last night for dinner and games and they made us feel better with their visa stories 🫣

Medicine - it's still stuck in customs jail. Now we know that they don't intend to give me an exemption so it really will cost $2,000 USD. We are waiting to hear if our insurance will cover it.

Flight - moved to Monday. Changed all our plans in Santo. Seeing if the place we're staying here has availability for us to stay longer.

** Do you see what I see? πŸ‘€ I pet its tail.

Update: We HAVE made progress but we're also still waiting. Funny how that works.

Visas - The system was down. We got coffee. The system got fixed. Found out a different government agency is reviewing our applications. Now we're waiting again. Drank more coffee haha

Angie's MS medicine - Lots of emails between Vanuatu, the US, and Switzerland. My medicine is here. We just need to get it released from customs today (without paying $2,000 in taxes) so I can make my appointment tomorrow.

Flight - We have tickets to fly to the island of Santo tomorrow afternoon but we have to get our visas straightened out in order to go. Please pray for God to work in these situations!

** Look at all the πŸ₯¬ and πŸ… at the market!

Port Vila has up to 1,400 operational buses at a time.

This morning we got in a bus and after a few minutes of small talk where we mentioned we live on Pentecost, the driver asked if we lived in Central Pentecost. Matt said yes and he nodded and said, "Mi save yu" (I know you).

Seriously, what are the chances?!

We made it to Port Vila, Vanuatu! We are very thankful to have made it here safely. Having said that, we need to go to some government offices tomorrow morning to get our visa situation straightened out and then go back to the airport to be reunited with our passports. Sigh... At least Matt is having fun talking Bislama to our taxi driver ☺️
