🤝SRSG Peter Due welcomed the Head of the European Union Office in Kosovo and European Union Special Representative, Amb. Dirk Schübel, for a courtesy meeting.

They exchanged views on recent developments in Kosovo and the region, reaffirming that dialogue remains the only viable way forward for addressing outstanding issues, building trust and advancing lasting peace and stability. They also discussed the importance of the EU - UN partnership and continued coordination among all international partners in Kosovo.

📍SRSG Peter Due visited Gjakovë/Đakovica today, where he met the Mayor and President of Aleanca, Mr. Ardian Gjini, to learn more about developments in the municipality. The SRSG underscored the importance of inclusivity, dialogue and cooperation including between central and local authorities, in addressing local priorities and advancing the well-being of all communities.

🤝SRSG Due also visited Medica Gjakova, a long-standing UNMIK partner. Discussions focused on the organization’s psychosocial support for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence and gender-based violence, as well as its continued efforts to combat stigma and promote awareness of survivors’ rights.

On this International Day of , UN Secretary-General António Guterres reaffirms the Organization's shared commitment to serving all members of society, especially those most at risk.

In his message, the United Nations Chief highlights that conflict, climate change, and inequality are making more people vulnerable across the world, including women and children, older people, migrants, refugees, internally displaced people, and persons with disabilities. These groups are more frequently targeted for trafficking, exploitation, and organized crime both online and offline.

"Everyone deserves the protection of the law. Together, let us strengthen collaboration, foster community trust, and build police institutions that serve with integrity and humanity," Guterres says.

Today, more than 7,700 United Nations Police - UNPOL personnel are authorized to serve across 14 peace operations worldwide, including in the United Nations Mission in the DR Congo - Monusco, UNFICYP, UNMIK - United Nations Mission in Kosovo, and United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

More than 75 countries contribute police officers to these vital peace operations. Some of the largest contributions are from , , , , , and . The largest UN Police presence is currently deployed at the UN Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).

🇺🇳UNMIK welcomed a delegation of the Austrian Parliamentary Commission for the Federal Armed Forces, led by its Chairman, Dr Reinhard Bösch, and accompanying Austrian Armed Forces officers led by BG Herbert Roman Sailer.

They were briefed by SRSG Peter Due on the Mission’s mandate, priorities and ongoing work in support of peace, stability, human rights and trust-building among all communities in Kosovo.

The delegation also had the opportunity to meet with Austrian personnel serving in UNMIK’s Military Liaison Office and learn more about their work and contribution to the Mission.
