Architects: Snøhetta
In the historic industrial area of Nydalen by the river Akerselva in Oslo, Norway, Snøhetta is excited to unveil Vertikal Nydalen, a mixed-use building with a simplified and self-sufficient climate system, and natural ventilation. The building also forms a new town square for the area.

La Maison D’Egypte Student Dormitory
Architects : Dar Arafa Architecture + SAM architectur

La Maison D’Egypte is an attempt to revisit the essence of Egyptian architecture, especially considering its strong Parisian location: the Cite Internationale Universitaire de Paris, full of early modernist buildings such as Le Corbusier’s Fondation Suisse 1933 and the House of Brazil 1957. The design intent was to create this building as more than just your standard dormitory and make into a home away from home for both Egyptian and international students in the heart of Paris

One of the unique Competitions
was the Urban Confluence San
Jose design competition carried
out by the San Jose Light Tower
Corporation to build an artistically
inspired iconic landmark.
The Urban Confluence Silicon Valley
organization envisions an impressive
symbolic structure appropriate
for this unique region that
is recognized as the worldwide
centre of innovation. This bold destination
landmark will provide a
major enhancement to downtown
San Jose, and be an important
catalyst for Silicon Valley culture
and long-term regional economic
development. The internationally
respected icon will offer a mustsee
place of hope, healing, and
human connection – creating a
compelling world-class experience
for tourists and the local community.
The Community Competition
Panel (CCP), comprised of 34 local
community leaders including artists,
architects, environmentalists,
and business leaders, convened
for two days of deliberation sessions.
They diligently reviewed
and evaluated all 963 qualified
submissions as a group and concluded
their work by recommending
47 submissions to the Jury for
consideration. The knot by Archi-
LAB was amongst the 47 shortlisted
submissions by the CCP.

How Do Double-Skin Façades Work?

Double skin façades: Almost a self-explanatory name for façade systems consisting of two layers, usually glass, wherein air flows through the intermediate cavity. Gold City Ain Sokhna Road
Architect: Ökoplan Engineering Consultations

Following the government’s latest vision and strategies of expanding the city and executing new projects in the suburbs of the capital, the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade decided to carry out the project of Gold City. Gold City is supposed to be an attraction destination for visitors of the city as it occupies a strategic destination on the Cairo-Ain Sokhna Road.
The project occupies the area of 63 Feddans including a commercial area, industrial area, residential area, and educational area.

Exploring the Grand Egyptian Museum Through Photography: Bridging Past and Present in Cairo

Showcasing millennia of Egyptian history and culture, the Grand Egyptian Museum is a monumental project in Cairo, Egypt, designed by the Irish firm Heneghan Peng Architects. Home to over 100,000 artifacts spanning Egypt’s storied past, the museum is on the brink of opening its doors to the public after multiple setbacks. Recent updates offer glimpses of the structure’s progress, with photographs captured by Egyptian photographer Farida Bustani providing sneak peeks of the architectural landmark.

الرائعون Dar Arafa Architecture والتعامل الحذر مع فراغ ذى قيمة تراثية واثرية مثل قلعة محمد على
Everyone is aware of the Citadel of Cairo as Egypt’s seat of political power since its establishment by Salah Al-Din in the 12th century, hosting all of its rulers since then. The Ayyubids, the Mamluks, the Ottomans, and Muhammad Ali Pasha’s Family all ruled from the citadel until the seat of power moved to the Palace of Abdin in the time of Khedive Ismail. However, only a few are aware that the Citadel has been the seat of Design Power. While its political power has now certainly faded, its position as a transcendental Seat of Design Power, figuratively and literally, is still evident.
