AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026 Draw is OUT! 🔥

Tough times ahead for South Asia 🇧🇩🇮🇳

Bangladesh in Group B with defending champs 🇨🇳 China, 3-time champs 🇰🇵 North Korea and 🇺🇿 Uzbekistan – the same team that knocked Nepal out on penalties 😔
It’s gonna be a crazy fight for Bangladesh!

India's not safe either. Group C is stacked – 🇯🇵 Japan (2x champs), 🇻🇳 Vietnam (ASEAN beasts), 🇹🇼 Chinese Taipei (3x champs) 😳
India gotta give everything to survive here!

Group A?
Host 🇦🇺 Australia, 🇰🇷 Korea Republic, 🇮🇷 Iran and 🇵🇭 Philippines – still no easy ride.

And Nepal… so close bro 😢 that penalty shootout vs Uzbekistan still hurts. One step away from history. But we keep believing. 🇳🇵❤️

The tournament will be held in Australia from March 1 to 21. Total 12 teams, 5 stadiums, and this edition will also act as the final qualification for the 2027 Women’s World Cup and 2028 Olympic Qualifiers.

Best of luck to our South Asian sisters. Let’s make some noise on the biggest stage 💪

🇳🇵 Nepal to Construct South Asia’s Biggest Football-Only Stadium 🏟️

The Government of Nepal is set to build the biggest football-specific stadium in South Asia, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s sporting infrastructure.

They say it will be Nepal’s biggest stadium, but what many do not know is that it will also be the biggest football-only stadium in all of South Asia—designed exclusively to host football events with a minimum seating capacity of 50,000.

Currently, South Asia has only a limited number of stadiums dedicated solely to football, and none match the scale of this upcoming project. Although some venues in the region accommodate over 50,000 spectators, they serve multiple sports and are not exclusively designed for football.

Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli recently convened a high-level meeting with representatives from the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), National Sports Council (NSC), and Suryabinayak Municipality to advance plans for this state-of-the-art stadium.

The selected site is located in Jagati, Ward No. 8, Bhaktapur, covering approximately 200 ropani of land, formerly the site of an old brick factory. This location was chosen from three shortlisted options—two in Lalitpur and one in Bhaktapur—based on superior land availability, accessibility, and development potential.

ANFA has secured a budget allocation of $2.2 million USD for the project from FIFA and is committed to delivering a facility dedicated solely to football, rather than a multi-sport complex.

This development symbolizes Nepal’s dedication to fostering football culture and elevating the country’s standing in South Asian sports.

From Bhaktapur, Nepal is poised to emerge as a leader in regional football infrastructure.

Jai Nepal! 🇳🇵🏟️⚽

We would like to inform you that Pokhara Thunders FC were previously in talks with an unknown ISL team, possibly Goa FC (unofficial), for a friendly match at Pokhara Stadium.

The news surfaced a few months ago, but it now seems it was either false or did not materialize.
As of now, the friendly match will not take place.

Thank you,

Ananta Tamang scored a great goal, no doubt. Full respect to him.
But some people already calling it “goal of the tournament” — bruh, it’s just the second match 😭

This is the problem in our football. We overhype too much.
Yes, the goal was nice. Maybe a contender. But chill.
Let the tournament go on — we’ll see many more goals.

End of the day, we lost the match. That’s what matters.
Stop focusing only on one moment. Let’s focus on the full game, on the result.

Overhyping everything is one reason our football doesn’t grow.
Be real. Support smartly.✌️⚽

Best wishes to Tribhuwan Army Club, Ananta Tamang, and every other player. 🙌🇳🇵

According to Bangladeshi media reports, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is considering organizing a bilateral series against either Nepal or the Netherlands in August 2025.

Following back-to-back series victories against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the Bangladeshi team currently has no official matches scheduled before the Asia Cup. Players are expected to take a short break of around 10–12 days, but questions have been raised about maintaining momentum ahead of the continental tournament.

Speaking to reporters in Mirpur, BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Nazmul Abedeen said,

“No big country is available at the moment because they are all busy with their own schedules. We think it could happen with some other country. It could be the Netherlands or Nepal or some such team. We are trying at the moment.”

Bangladesh was initially set to host India for a T20I and ODI series in August, but the series has been postponed to September next year due to a delay in official clearance from the Indian government.

If no foreign team becomes available, the BCB is likely to arrange matches between the national team and the Bangladesh ‘A’ team or High Performance (HP) squad. A three-week preparation camp is also being planned.

The 2025 Asia Cup is tentatively scheduled from 9 to 28 September in the United Arab Emirates, featuring eight teams, including Bangladesh.

FT: Jamshedpur FC 3-2 Tribhuvan Army FC

A five-goal thriller to kick off the campaign! 🇮🇳🔥

Despite come back goals from George Prince Karki and Ananta Tamang, TAFC couldn't complete the comeback as Jamshedpur FC edge it in a pulsating contest at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.

The Men of Steel showed composure under pressure, sealing all three points in a game that went down to the wire. ⚔️

Plenty of positives for the Nepali side, but they’ll be ruing missed chances and defensive lapses early on. On to the next one!

📊 Final Score:
Jamshedpur FC – 3
Tribhuvan Army FC – 2
