All respect and appreciation to this Congolese supporter 🇨🇩 for the symbolism of his gesture and for reviving the memory of a great hero, Patrice Lumumba, inspiring millions of young people today to ask about him, about the history of our continent, and about its struggle for independence.

He fought against colonialism and sacrificed his life after being treacherously assassinated by a Belgian officer, with his body cut into small pieces and dissolved in sulfuric acid.

The Egyptian government helped his family escape colonial persecution and settle in Egypt, and his name was given to more than one street in tribute to him.

He was an African nationalist who believed in the unity of Africa, and he played a decisive role in transforming the Congo from a Belgian colony into an independent republic.

He sacrificed everything for his country, at a time when the colonization of nations was returning in a new form.
